Cheapest place to buy plastic boxes + lids?

I've got to put a lot of stuff into storage which won't be watertight.

Anyone know where I can buy a fair few plastic storage boxes with lids from without spending a fortune?

Locally to Essex or mail order.

Thanks for suggestions but went to Poundstretcher in the end.  150l jobbies for not a lot of cash.

How do the folding open lid types cope with water though? Need to look at getting a few myself, and like the OP, they won't be stored somewhere water tight, and though they aren't ever going to get submerged or anything, they might get dripped on, if you see what I mean. I'd need something that if any water did collect on the lid, could just be tipped off , without draining down through into the box itself. (Not planning on going to Peli case extremes.)

Dave, I use the "really useful boxes" for storing car parts in the garage as they stack well and the bottoms don't sag over time.

Most of mine are the 35L XL size which are very solid and can just about be lifted once they are packed to the brim with heavy lumps of steel and aluminium. They're available in Staples and B&Q where I got some recently on special offer at half price.

Those look just the job Mark, the lids overlap fully, rather than having catches and splits in the top.

Will stock up on a few next time I see some.

Luckily for us it doesn't matter now, happy to say we've found a brand new water and animal tight container to rent.  What we saved on boxes pays for the first month of rent, plus we can put furniture in there.
