KenPhilps Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 This Saturday is a 'run what you brung' day at Shakespeare county raceway Drag strip near Stratford-upon-Avon. Weather permitting members of the Cotswold Westfield area are going on Saturday. If any one is interested in joining us then drop me a line. Or just turn up. Costs are £12 entry plus £25 if you want to drive the track, pay on entry. You will need a helmet, long sleeves and gloves, oh and your driving license. It's a fun day out and you get to drive your Westfield on the 1/4 mile a number of times. Time and speed printouts are provided by the track. We are meeting either at the track or for those who want to travel as a group at 8:45 at the BP petrol station just of Junction 9 M5. This trip is Weather dependent, so we'll do a weather check on a Friday. Cheers Ken Quote
CrisisWolf Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Saw Andrew's email about this. Interested but will see how Abingdon Track day goes (on Friday) and weather so keep us up to date. Quote
M444TTB Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Blimey that has got expensive over the years! Quote
Lawrie Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Are there any other dates this year? I can't see anything, and wonder if Thames Valley might like an outing I see from the rules that:- 17 All Motor Sports Association [MSA] registered Competition Cars and MSA Licenced drivers must wear full safety gear (helmet/firesuit/gloves etc) as if competing at a full UK National Championship Event. How would they ever know if you had a competition licence or a serious heart defect for that matter Quote
KenPhilps Posted July 14, 2014 Author Posted July 14, 2014 This is a public track day designed for anyone to bring their own vehicle. The regulations that apply are set out on the Shakespeare county raceway websit here: http://www.shakespearecountyraceway.com/rwyb.asp You don't need fire proof overalls. I'm not an MSA member so can't comment on that club. There is no requirement to be an MSA member to enjoy an RWYB day. This day is not a competition except between you and the clock! To answer your query on dates, they have an RWYB weekend each month. We find that the Saturday is the better day as it's less crowded and you get more track runs in. Quote
KenPhilps Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 CANCELLED DUE TO BAD WEATHER FORECAST I am cancelled this trip due to the wet weather forecast tomorrow. We've learnt from past experience that they won't run at Shakespeare County Raceway until the track is completely dry. Tomorrow's forecast is for rain overnight and heavy showers until lunchtime, followed by 2 hours dry and then more showers. So no point standing in an open wet Car park for the day. There is another opportunity on September 27th which is the next public track day. Very disappointing news Ken Quote
