Does anyone want to sell me a Riv-nut gun? I need it to set M8 nuts to secure the scuttle (according to the build manual). I only need to set 6 nuts so don't really want to buy a new one just for that. If anyone can help, email me, or phone me on 07980 644434. Many thanks,

Mark.

Mark, a riv-nut gun is probably one of the handiest gadgets in the garage for the kit car builder. You think you only need to set six riv-nuts in, but once you actually own one its amazing what it can be utilised for. A very good investment IMO.

With a bit of patience, riv-nuts can be 'pulled up' using the correct sized bolt and some washers. Just gently tighten the assembly up in the tube until secure. Try and make the holes for the rivnuts a tight fit, i.e. so they have to be gently tapped in, this will prevent the riv-nut turning as you tighten the assembly. Give any bolts that are secured with riv-nuts a good coat of coppa-slip before final assembly, to prevent corrosion.

Otherwise, where abouts in the country are you? You are more than welcome to borrow mine....

RS' "clinchnut tool" is pretty much the same thing as the rivnut tool, and is a fair bit cheaper...

Thanks everyone, have ordered one through RS Components. Bought the individual tool which comes with a selection of mandrels, rather than the full kit (as I already have the riv-nuts). This works out at £36 instead of £62, so thanks again.

MJ.
