Terry Everall
Steve D suspects the input shaft bearing but Steve E lost about 15 secs time in his 2 practices so could the failure be a tooth off the gears as he also noted that the car appeared to jump or surge for last 200m on the fast straight to the finish. John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison
Quaife 4 speed boxes have their gear set location set by a clamped ring on the main shaft. These have a habit of slipping, and when they do, the dogs loose contact with each other and causes all sorts of problems. My box had this jhappena nd had to be completely rebuilt at almost the cost of a new one. Its now been modified with a circlip to prevent the collar slipping along the shaft again The 5 speed boxes have a circlip as standard I belive
Scottish Bloke
Sounds frustrating Terry/Steve. Sounds like the box may need to come out, which puts real pressure on for the weekend. Good luck with it!
Terry Everall
If its the box we will not be ready for weekend so he will need a double drive if possible!

Scottish Bloke
He's a man in the know. Does the engine need to come out or can you get the box out independently?
Terry Everall
Looks like it is just the vicious new ceramic clutch acting like an on off switch so fingers crossed we are all systems go
