jeff oakley
Steve, that is not a rant, that is just mildly annoyed!! I agree with you the system is so wrong. These days you can become disabled by being too fat and then the money rolls in. There are many deserving cases for help, however. there are so many now who know just what to say to get extra. Disability living allowance, carers allowance, Kids with ADHD. My sisters daughter has type 1 Diabetes, nothing changed, she still does the same washing cleaning etc but now here daughter is worth IIRC £36 per week extra Why? We need a wholesale change , but when the government said to people who live in a three bedroom council house, that if they want to stay they will have to pay, the unwashed are up in arms. And these are the same who moan that their offspring have no where to live.
ralphy
I’m currently in Normandy and travelling around the various D-Day battlefield sites. As humbling an experience as that is, even more so is seeing some of the veterans who have travelled here from far afield and who, despite being frail and elderly, still insisted on walking (painfully slowly) to the monuments and then releasing their sticks to stand and salute their fallen comrades. A different generation indeed. R
Paul Gibney - Lancashire AO
Steve u coming to tatton ? Hopefully loads of scantily clad sun worshiping fatties for you to rant at !
XTR2Turbo
What really gets me is when they get disabled parking badges too. And on the subject of disabled parking spaces I'm sick of them also being abused by those clearly with no disability (other than perhaps mental) just using them for convenience. Man On The Clapham Omnibus
Pretty good rant Steve, and with sufficiently oblique expletives to pass muster on the swear filter. I do think, though, that you should come down off the fence and say what you REALLY think!

iain m
Up to recently you paid a bit more than the standard £50 a week Mobility charge and could choose almost anything you desired Merc/BMW/Lexus/Jag, my eldest who is in the motor trade tells me now there is a maximum of £30k on any car and it has to be kept within a short distance of the registered driver. Apparently the recipients were renting out their cars every two years for a handsome cash profit. Regarding Blue badges the majority are loaned/rented/sold on and a huge number are forged even though the penalty for misuse is prison and a min £5k fine. The CEO is having major surgery next week and has had severe mobility problems for some time, she struggles past all the disabled bays when shopping convinced non of the occupants are the badge holders.
