cooperwestie
I've got a 1.8 silver top and im thinking turbo power on throttle bodies and high lift cams. Ive got a price for everything but the mighty turbo. Anyone got any clues or whether to bother at all?
Pistol Pete
The power delivery of older turbo's isn't really suited to a lightweight seven type car, newer generations of turbo appear to suffer hardly any lag and better suited but superchargers appear to be more popular among kit cars. SteveRST has experience of cvh turbos and last year turbo charged a 2.0 zetec, so may be worth dropping him a pm.

alexander72
Edited to add, "Turbos are Titanic" not "Mighty"…. Mighty is saved for the 8V push rod classic Mighty Cross Flow…..
jeff oakley
Edited to add, "Turbos are Titanic" not "Mighty"…. Mighty is saved for the 8V push rod classic Mighty Cross Flow….. Does that mean they are doomed on their first outing?

CrisisWolf
Been in touch with bailey perfomance hes goin to supercharge mine Be interested to know how that turns out! cooperwestie
My engine has done 3300 miles so relatively new. He recons 250bhp from a 1.8 with new ecu etc and around 3500 fully done. He could put more bhp but said for a reliable engine that's the peak. If you start goin mad on the internals then obviously alot more. He said he had a 2.0 running 400bhp but was dangerous I mean power to weight your talking close to
cooperwestie
Does that mean they are doomed on their first outing?had a crossflow in my old kitcar........zetec all the way
alexander72
cooper, i think it very much depends on the cross flow and the peddler :-)

MK11
400bhp from a 2.0 zetec isn't really trying. My BIL used to build zetecs of 460bhp before he decided to go the duratec route for big HP.
Paul Edden
There should be a crossflow class in the speed series I think. (Goes to buy popcorn - and waits).
cooperwestie
400bhp engine not when the power to weight is done
