westy Posted December 16, 2002 Posted December 16, 2002 I know its on another thread but personal votes would be appreciated (no swaying Pss. with those 20 user ID's ) Whats the best one for car games, sounds, graphics and generally drinking cans of wife beater with? btw it will be going through a big telly with dolby 5.1 sound Quote
peterpeter Posted December 16, 2002 Posted December 16, 2002 very difficult choice.... Xbox is by far the best machine...Ps2s graphics are nothing short of ****e. (Ive got both BTW). X box has a great future and currently there are some killer games available, i,e, project gotham , Col.mcrae, sega gt 2002 ,(splinter cell and halo) plus it has a much better internet.on-line gaming setup which is going really well in the states and is going to go live in Europe soon. However, PS2 has GTA vice city and although the graphics are a bit pants, is really one of the best games ever...Unfortunately, it wont appear on anything other than the PC for a least two years. So, if you can wait for he PC version (which will be better if your PC is powerful enough) get an XBOX. If not go for the PS2 .. Even better get both ,just dont tell the wife. (mine doesnt even realise ,she thinks the PS2 ive got is just a DVD player for the bedroom)!!! Quote
Girly Pants Posted December 16, 2002 Posted December 16, 2002 no swaying Pss. with those 20 user ID's .....wouldn't dream of it. ......unless the X Box starts to fall behind. .......only kidding. Quote
Midds Posted December 17, 2002 Posted December 17, 2002 Playstation 2 every time, there is no comparison for amount of games (the PS1 games work on it), flexibility and cheap game offers from papers and the shops. PS2 Midds Quote
I AM NOT A NUMBER!!! Posted December 17, 2002 Posted December 17, 2002 X-box has better graphics though..... .....as it should, 'cause it's a better machine. Quote
westy Posted December 17, 2002 Author Posted December 17, 2002 So the x-box has the current lead along with a possible promise from a friend of lots of games after a certain chip is added. I must confess Im heading that way at the moment.... As an aside I also gleamed from an article that at the time of release, the x-box was using a graphics chipset from Nvidia that was 3 generations ahead of the then current top of the range graphic cards on the market, prooving once again that technology is drip fed to us. Suddenly you realise why Intel and Co have and will be in the business so long Anyway keep voting boys (and ladies). Cheers. Westy Quote
westy Posted December 17, 2002 Author Posted December 17, 2002 Atari what the devil is one of those, Im part of the PS generation Quote

westy Posted December 18, 2002 Author Posted December 18, 2002 Pah. You're not much, if any, younger than I am you cheeky young scamp !! I couldn't possibly comment Anyway, while your over there how about taking that 'ittle beast of an engine out and replace it with something that idles at 48,000 rpm and is at full throttle at 72,000 rpm Neo, do you have the PC version of UT2003, if so I'll will give you a game on the net if you like Quote
Hanslow Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 All depends if you have a decent PC. If you have, I don't think you will gain much with an X-Box. I would love to play Splinter Cell but its scheduled for mid-late Jan for release on the PC. I have a PS2 and Gamecube (amongst other old consoles) and can't fault the PS2. Yes the X-Box is technically a better machine and the graphics look nicer, but to sound like a really old fart, graphics don't make the game....it's playability. Cross the PC based games with the odd sesh on Grand Theft Auto, Gran Turismo 3, all the beat em ups, etc. and I personally think a PS2 and decent PC combo is the way to go Flame suit ready Quote
