Asterix
Especially in south derby Simply don't have enough time with work and other commitments to get what "appears" a minor oil leak and a minor coolant leak. So, am looking for a careful, detail-oriented, conscientious, expert mechanic close to where I live - Findern, 5m south of Derby - who i could take the car to, get it fixed and then be able to drive it with more time spent enjoying the ride than looking at the t's & p's. Would appreciate anyone who's a member of l7cgb asking that community too. Any recommends gratefully appreciated.
blue ass fly
If theyre minor can you not live with them till after the summer and then get it done No rush to get it done over winter and you can enjoy your car in the mean time
Asterix
Thanks for the reply but no - too much invested in the engine to drive it with defects
Fordboi
I live in Burton and quite often pass through Findern on my way to my parents. Surprised I haven't seen your car out and about. What engine/chassis combination have you got? As for your original post, I'm afraid im not aware of any westfield specific specialists in our area. The nearest that I have used and would recommend is procomp in erdington. They're very capable and will deal with most if not all jobs on a westy. If there is anything I can help with or advise you with though, id be more than happy to lend a helping hand.
dhutch
Your not too far from Uttoxeter either. There are a couple of garages here I have used with success for various daily drivers if your after recommendations for decent garages that are not too far away, but to date I have done all my own work on the kitcar other than having it mot'ed. Norman Verona
If Chesterfield isn't too far there is a chap near the big Tesco just off the Dual carriageway. Think he's called xtran or something like it. He mainly specialises in Caterham but I've seen Westfields in there. I can google map him if you want. pete275
Noble motorsport are also based in Chesterfield. They did a few jobs on my westfield and were excellent and thorough. I've now moved onto a TVR but would happily use them again.
Ian Podmore
And of course Matrix Motorsport. Otherwise a friend with garage in Lichfield - Acton Motors, just on the road in from your end on the left.
Norman Verona
I wouldn't go anywhere near Noble. It's under new ownership (has been for several years) and they really screwed my car up. The original owner has moved on and sold it to a chap who's family own a large grocery business in the wholesale markets.

Think its Trevor at Tranzpower that Norman is thinking off, he has geo'd my car several times and is now doing a lot of work with Ginetta. Norman Verona
That's it Trevor at Tranzpower and his trusty slave sidekick. He did mine a few times.
Pingu
The guy at balance hill motors in Uttoxeter, although very back street in appearance is friendly and willing to invest time. Paul

I heard the same things, I went out to see them about a job on mine and never went back after a quick chat.
dhutch
The guy at balance hill motors in Uttoxeter, although very back street in appearance is friendly and willing to invest time.We seem to have a absent OP on this thread. However if we are naming names I have used most of the garages in Uttoexeter now. - Kevin (?) at Dove Bank Motors is my most recent, and they did what appears to be a good job stripping an cleaning the break calipers on the E36 before putting them back with the new pads. And also pointed me in the direction of a BMW breaker in the area who fitted some part-used parts for the MOT as well. There also walking distance to my current house which is a bonus! - John Sewell Garages get good reviews from a number of colleagues and diagnosed my coolant leak for me without issue. They did have a reputation for being very well priced, although I think in the main these days are gone as people have had to learn how to charge or close. - Balance Hill is one of the few I have not used, although I know someone who bought a car off them and has had no issues with it... - Maltings Garage have always been fine with me, timing belt change on the 306, exhausts, pre-mot emissions test etc - Punchard's (just out in bramshaw) dont really do work have always done the the MOT on the kitcar, recommended by MarketStreet as they have a pit not a lift. Having got a bit of a reputation from printing test certs they then got caught and shortly afterwards failed the BMW on a lot of things I think where the pass side of borderline, but have always been great with the westfield. - Market Street Garage have always declined to MOT the kitcar as it 'wont fit on there ramp' although I am fairly confident it would and offered to drive it for them. I have also had a falling out about a £38 'ecu fault reading charge' on the 306 which I didnt ask them to do, and didn't find anything anyway. But they where walking distance from where I was living at the time! Daniel
