Pantherman
Yesterday while at work I developed a pain in my big toe which got gradually worse throughout the day and kept me awake all night ! Seems like I have developed gout, never felt pain like it and have hobbled about all day . Anybody suffered with this , if so have you any advice ? bhouse
Go and see a doctor asap. Gout is, as he text books put it, "exquisitely painful". There are drugs that can help in some cases and attention to your diet can really improve things. Good luck, and I hope the pain diminishes soon!
alexander72
Drink lots of water and ease off the claret/port/gin/roquefort.. Having suffered terrible gout in my early thirties I can vouch for the pain. Cider gets rid of it… and Chartreuse (a drink for the connoisseur and not the populous) Good luck in your crystal dissipation

Norman Verona
No gout here. Years of drinking copious amounts of real ale is the protection I've wrapped myself around. Mind you I now drink a bit of red wine so I may be joining you soon.... The way my health is doing at the moment I wouldn't be surprised if my crystals start stabbing me any day now. Rhett Turner - Black Country AO
I have some of the symptoms but after tests by the doc it was inconclusive but I suspect it may be. The first time I experienced it I can only describe it as like having my foot in a vice. (not that I have actually had my foot in a vice) I would advise going to the docs, if nothing else they can prescribe the correct medication that relieves the symptoms and helps with the pain. For me I think it may be eating too much fruit, berries etc that sets it off and I find that even though it hurts like hell to start with using it seems to ultimately help. Terry Everall
In the past I have sometimes had a severe sharp pain ( a bit like a needle being jabbed into me) in my big toe. Doc said not convinced it is gout but could be tendonitis so prescribed Dichlophenac or Ibuprofen to cure it.
