Man On The Clapham Omnibus
...they sound more like my Westfield!
M444TTB
I like how they sound too. Although I think the in-car mic could be improved.
Boombang
If only my Westfield was that quiet!
the stoat
I am the opposite do not like the sound. Sounds like a Hoover.
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
I'd love to say it sounds like my lawn mower, but frankly the mowers better. No doubt I'll get used to it. But at the moment, they've lost all presence.
Dommo
I'd prefer it if they turned the gain on the mics down - can hardly hear the commentators. Turned to BBC and it was the same so presume it's a FOM thing. Raw engine sound isn't great, but some of the sounds off throttle are pretty futuristic
Man On The Clapham Omnibus
For the avoidance of doubt, I'd really rather my Westfield sounded like the V8 or V10 cars, but I am just trying to be positive about a less than inspiring soundtrack... Anyway it would never pass the noise test at the trackdays.
M444TTB
I can't see the problem. The last generation V8s were pure noise at full chat. Nothing musical or interesting. The V10s and previous generation V12s were much better. The 1970s (a decade before I was born!) were the sweet spot in my opinion. Still plenty of revs but the 'music' was still there. That said, the BRM V16 may well run that Matra V12 close.
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
I wouldn't even like to say exactly what combination of things it is; but it's bad enough that I've heard people with no interest and only limited experience, comment on how bad, not as good, they are this year. That said, the TV I watch on has no working internal speakers, so everything I watch is piped through a Linn AV system with Aktiv front speakers, so I may be getting a slightly different experience! (So used to seeing it, I sought of forgot the difference it was making).
tolf
Prefer the previous engine noise, these cars are too quiet
peet
The F in F1 nowadays stands for Farcical. Cars are now as dull as the drivers!
craigjruss
I think the Audi R18 diesel makes more noise!!
pistonbroke
Going back to the last Turbo era in 1980's , did they sound much different then ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JIXPqgwQHk
