It's not down to the cage is it?

A Plan did not charge me a penny extra for a cage, same quote with or without.

Now just waiting for someone to make the bl**** things :)

Mine is insured on a very limited mileage policy through A Plan. No problems as far as I'm concerned. I can't remember how much the premium was, but I felt it was very modest in the overall costs of running in a road registered class.

its for my white one mate . only low power, unlike your mighty cross flow :p

I here cross flows may become un insurable due to there power to weight ratio . :d :d :d

That's true Pete, I had to really convince a plan to insure the mighty cross flow. I have had to get a HANS device to cope with the G forces...

Thanks for all your replies guys, has been very helpful. I'm all sorted now for a fraction of the price of my other quotes and with all all mods disclosed no problem at all.

Could be well worth giving this guy a call Tony Fehily at Greenlight Insurance or here http://www.greenlightinsurance.co.uk/ made a refreshing change to deal with someone who understands our daft hobby  :t-up:

Glad your sorted Martin and good to know there's another kit car friendly insurance company :t-up:

Just as a heads up for others reading this thread, I'm currently insured through A plan and recently fitted a full cage which has had no effect on my premium at this time.

  • 1 month later...

When getting quotes for road insurance for the Westfield I'm being asked if the car will ever be used for track days, sprints or hillclimbs, so I say, "yes but I'm not looking for cover for that, just for road use" on that basis Footman James delcined to quote, A Plan are happy to insure but at a price.

Very odd. I read the title looking into what the situation would be regarding insuring you car during a sprint, but I have never been asked the question when insuring the car.

 - I have a car engine, no super charger, and an roll bar not a cage, but still.

Currently insured via 2gether, but have also been with Sureterm, MSN, and others. Paying about £200-250 for a 3k policy, including brake down, with I think 30 days european cover, for my (26) and girlfriend (25).

Expect I will come renewal, I must say that this year in between the chaos of life and being out of the country with work a lot I just took the renewal price in haste and put my efforts into things more pressing so perhaps not the best price. It was up a bit from the year before, but in all honest I am not even exactly sure what it is or was...

Sounds about right. I went thru A-Plan and I'm paying £200 for the same less breakdown cover and I'm 27 (with some points and accident). They did say if I added someone else it would cost more as the policy has a 10% single driver discount.
