Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Hi All, On behalf of the committee, I’d like to post the following: As you may have seen, here and on other forums, there have been several discussions regarding insurance and track-days in particular. The club’s officials have been and are currently seeking advice about how this affects us all as individual members of the club, (and thus are potentially, individually and equally responsible for). This is something we aim to resolve at the AGM in May. In the mean time, it is important to understand that while we value and appreciate members booking tracks and organizing their own track days for other members, and wish them successful and popular events, it is crucial that these events are not confused with either WSCC organized Track Days, or other Commercially available Track Days. We are currently more than happy to support those running these occasional non-profit days, by relaxing the normal rules on advertising on the Boardroom by non-traders. But we do ask that you don’t use the words Westfield Sports Car Club or WSCC in either the name of the event or it’s description in such a way that it appears to be a club organized event and hence covered by the club’s insurance. In addition, you need to include the following disclaimer at the end of your post – “To avoid any potential misunderstandings, the Committee would like to remind everyone that although this event is being shown on the WSCC Forums, it is not organised by the WSCC and is not an official WSCC Track Day event, and as such, it is not covered by the WSCC's insurance - so it's up to each individual attending the event to ensure that they are adequately covered.” This is such an important thing, to protect individual members from a “worst case” scenario, that the mods will make the changes automatically, if you don’t! If anyone organizing a day needs help obtaining the appropriate insurance cover, we can give him or her the necessary contact details. Please note all “official” WSCC Track Days as arranged by our new Track Day Guru, SteveH are done through fully insured track day companies. Thank you for your patience, and have a great time out there on track
