Was going to take the P out of how the Spitfire had been posed, then spotted the wreaths, Though that makes it seem even odder from the angle of the photos, given its a memorial. I'm curious though, is it one of those "proper" fuselage reproductions, or just a rough copy? [/off topic] Quote
clansman Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Don't think its a Spitfire Dave looks more like a De Havilland Mosquito ?! Quote

Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Hard to tell, but would explain why it doesn't quite look right. At first glance, it doesn't look twin engined (on the leading edge of the wings, I can't make out the engine nacelles, but the trailing edge of the wings, do look like Mosquito wings. The curve of wings and tail plane doesn't look quite right either, but would me closer if it's supposed to be a Mosquito. As would the narrowness of the fuselage. Quote
SootySport Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 The model is more like a Mosquito although it is supposed to be a generic aircraft representing all that used the Airfield during WW2 for re-fuelling and emergency landings after raids over the continent. Mosquitos and Spitfires were stationed here and used to escort Bomber Command raids across the southern North Sea. A Mosquito is also featured in the Bradwell village sign.
