Hi all. My name is Luke and I've thoroughly got the Westy bug. A best friend of mine is just about to pick up a Zetec Westy and I'd been looking since last year. In between, I purchased an M135i and hardly used it. Covered 600 miles (very fun miles) so decided to sell it and look for something less susceptible to depreciation. As immense as that car was!!!!

I'm due to go and view a C20XE next Tuesday.

Will be good to get to some local meets and shows when I get a car!!

I've uploaded a pic of my M135i to the gallery.

Thanks all. Seems like a very welcoming place here. Good camaraderie among the Westy folks.

Now definitely seems like the time to buy. I'll let everyone know how i get on Tuesday, Paul thank you very much for the offer. :)

The car im looking at has a fantastic engine and drivetrain spec and was put together very well. Has some really nice things going on, however, its aero screen, no weather gear and stripped/track focussed. The seller wants £10k, so im going to view with an open mind. It ticks nearly all the boxes. The screen, interior, comfier seats and weather gear are ideal for me in case i ever get caught short or take the car on longer journeys. Tillet seats are great for adding lightness, but dont make the greatest cruising. I guess its all spec that can be changed, but on a car thats already commanding a £10k asking price, im not sure its something i can stomach.

If you've not tried the Tillet/shell type seat before, don't be put off by how "utilitarian" they look. Provided you get the correct size for you, (obvious really, as there's not much give in them!) They're so supportive, and fit so well, that they're amongst the most comfortable seats for long distance travel that you'll find in a Westfields type vehicle.

Yep....

Don't dismiss shell seats despite the uncomfy look they have.

I had upholstered Westfield sports ones in which I could not get comfy. In fact discomfort is more accurate after a few miles.

Bought JKs and found them far comfier and feel as fresh as a daisy after several hours driving.

Deffo worth getting down to local meets to get some experience of the options.

Yep they are comfier than they look!! I drove mine back from Glasgow when I bought it.  No back or bottom aches and pains :)

Thanks all. I get sciatica (which is odd, as im a fit and healthy 33 year old - years of deadlifting in the gym to blame i reckon). Hopefully arranging to go and see Ricks Mazda SDV Westy this weekend too. It doesnt have the engine spec of the other, but looks very very nicely put together and has features i would have had to add to the other car.

Welcome Luke. I'm near Evesham myself, so pretty close to you.

You'll find the right car - plenty of good ones to choose from.  They can be pretty long-term once you get into them. Had ours since I built it in 1991. It's nearly as old as you are ;)

Quite a lot of us around this area then. Does anyone go to any local meets? Looks like the closest is in Warwick.

Welcome,

I'm from West mids with a C20XE Westfield, I'm not mechanically minded so can't help you there but I can tell you they are good fun

10k is good money for a C20xe but builds differ massively and prices are all over the place but do have a look around at specs etc

Good luck on your purchase

Haven't been to a local meet for many years. Nothing wrong with the meets, it's just I am an antisocial old b******d.
