John Williams (Panda) - Joint Manchester AO
Just had car broken into on the previous night..... no damage to windows/locks etc... so been very confused how they got in, coppers said I must have left the car open... Not convinced on that, also the car locks itself when unattented so likely hood of unlocked is pretty small Anyway after a bit of thinking we have a way that it probably happened. We leave all the keys in a key safe apart from the one at night to lock/unlock the front door (in case of emergency) which has a car key on, that night it was my golf. so we are thinking that they went in through the letterbox with something and pressed the open button on the key fob, because I still had both keys. volia now minus one laptop and bag and not insured as it was unattended not a happy panda
blue ass fly
Mates just had his focus done the same way Lost i pad and sat nav Scumbags use scanners Wait nearby and wait for you to operate the remote The scanner will read the frequency and duplicate it later when the cars unattended Lots of execs going in multistorys in london at one time , the big posh ones now have plate rec so you cant use any ticket to get out They will always find a way - eventually
pickmaster Andy Lowe
I have a rake pick that will open most VW in about 5 seconds and I can normally pick a ford tibbe lock in about 20 seconds But the alarm sounds when the doors opened So from what you've said no alarm requires the remote to be operated to open the car without the alarm Scanners can be bought from China for about £250 last time I looked, but without the original signal frequency it won't work Even with a scanner you don't override the Immobilizer chip in the key so it still won't start to drive it away As you say keep your keys out of sight and reach
ralphy
A rather up-market clothes shop was losing stock and the owners were baffled: the nature of the shop meant shoplifting was unlikely and the premises were alarmed at night. Nevertheless, items were disappearing and the realisation dawned slowly dawned that it was happening between the hours of closing and opening. It turned out that a local scrote was going out at night with a long fishing rod, but it wasn’t fish he was after: the rod with a hook on the end would be inserted through the front door letter-box and then the ‘catch’ would be slowly pulled back... Take care! R
Captain Colonial
Don't have the issue thanks to the small white furry chap in my avatar, the late Barkley. His favourite daily fun was to see the postman coming up the street and wait under the letter flap in the hall, quiet as a mouse, and then snatch the post out of his hand as it came through the flap and rip every envelope and flyer to shreds. Needless to say, it was eventually blocked off and a post box attached outside. Also keep all my car keys in the bedroom with me, along with a cricket bat, with ball and pads as well so no one can accuse me of pro-actively looking to cause GBH.

Hammy
The AA opened my focus in about 30seconds (not saying how here) , but an old inflatable lumber support helps - its dead easy to get in and not leave a mark.. If its dead locked apparently then pressing the start button unlocks a lot of cars.. lot easier than playing with letter boxes.... ( I got locked out by throwing my coat, with keys in it ,onto the back seat. When I then shut the rear door the whole car locked, but in this case not dead locked - AA man sez lots of cars do it on odd occasions)
