Jay love Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 This morning because of all the wind I decided to have a quick look in the garden before work just to check the trees, sheds and garages etc and also get my makita drill to take to work with me, walked down the garden( it's a bit of a funny shape garden big but a funny shape) anyway about 70yard down look around and looking at me was my neighbours Japanese Akita, standing in my garden with a fence panel lying down behind it. I know it's a bit of a nasty dog who does not like strangers (me being a stranger never seen it before). At this point yes some poo did come out, the thing was I had to walk past it to get back to the house, which I did very slowly and thinking if it comes at me should I run( over 70 yards I would have got a bit bum) stand my ground or go at it shouting (thought this may of been my best option) anyway he just stared at me probably thinking whys he walking funny, anyway got in the house and phoned the owner, he was 40 odd miles away at work, really needed that drill and to go to work, was really thinking of chancing it, eventually he did manage to phone his girlfriend to go around and get the dog in, not the best way to start your day but It really woke me up quick, me and the wife dropped the fence panel back in when the beast was away but still very concerned, could have been one of my kids or my own dog I let out. blue ass fly Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 That could have easily gone the wrong way As you say , good job it was you and not the missus or children You hear so much about people owning aggressive animals that attack kids etc, really cant see the attraction of having something like that in your house Quote
ALLADDIN Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 And next time the kids are in garden and a panels now loose ? I would have got a big knife and went for the drill, either it gets friendly or gets a hiding. Oh and I like dogs btw. Quote
pistonbroke Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I like dogs to , but they are pack animals and behave accordingly, so you have to show them in no uncertain terms who the master is Quote

The thing is I've got a section one 9 shot pump action shotgun in the house, was seriously thinking of just shooting the thing if it went for me, but there's all the legal stuff to go through then, but it would have solved the problem long term. The dog was as strong as the rotty but as fast as cat, one second he was wagging he tail the next he was trying to rip your face off, he ended up being put down at 15 months old. So I'm sort of used be dogs but these things are hard to read. Think I did the best thing, no one got bit and the dogs still alive, and one one set of pants had to be washed. Quote
Jay love Posted February 16, 2014 Author Posted February 16, 2014 Only one set of pants sorry(iPads keyboards crap) Quote
Darrell O'Neill Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Some years ago I was working in a house where the client was out and their Akita was shut in the utility room and going mad the whole time I was there. Upon returning into the house from the van carrying a brand new wood saw (I was having to take up floor boards) I was greeted with the sight of a bl**** great hound leaping in mid air towards me from the top step of the stairs. Instinctively and in self defence I took an almighty swipe with the saw before running out of the front door, taking care not to slip on the brown stuff escaping my trouser legs and shutting the front door behind me... I then had to sit in the van for an hour awaiting the return of the client. The dog hand managed to jump up and release the door from the room it was contained in somehow. Luckily the client was extremely understanding , but the sight upon re-entering the house will never leave me. The dog was cowering in the corner of one of the rooms, but had managed to run through every room in the house since our encounter.... Shall we just say, claret doesn't clean from magnolia, wall papered walls and light coloured carpets ... :-( Luckily the client footed the vets bills and the redecorating cost! Although I didn't have heart to charge fully for the work I carried out. The dog made a full recovery, even though his nose never looked the same since The client and i still remain friends but for some reason the dog still gives me a wide berth whenever I visit, even after all this time!
