pickmaster Andy Lowe Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Yes I could feel myself being drawn to the edge There's no way I'd be up there without a bungee rope attached Quote
jeff oakley Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 some people are just not wired like the rest of us. Guy Martin like to go fast and accepts the danger but does not do anything that is not checked out by experts. Even the TT is sane at the side of these people who hang off cranes etc. There are lots who do it and get away with it, but as Fred Dibnah said, one slip at these hieghts and its an appointment with the undertaker. mikef Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 It certainly turned my stomach I felt sorry for his Mum Quote
peterg Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Anyone watched this tonight .. on C4 after james Martins speed James Martin? I know he cooks quickly sometimes but........ You mean Guy Martin Quote
Captain Colonial Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 It's true that some people are wired up differently. There's a tribe of Native Americans in the US Northeast that have no fear of heights, which has been discovered to be a genetic difference. They have made a small fortune in the last century as iron workers, walking and climbing the skyscraper girders without safety harnesses, making them faster than their co-workers. They used to make about £80 per hour, £120 per hour overtime, and £200 per hour on Sundays and Christian holidays. But this guy is on the fast track to a short life. Quote
bigals Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 James Martin? I know he cooks quickly sometimes but........ You mean Guy Martin It had been a long day Quote
Darrell O'Neill Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 As the parent of two children, the program left me wondering if I would ask them to give up something they loved, something that have them a passion. We saw from the programme the guy was nothing but a lonely sad individual with like interest in anything other than console games until he found a passion for free running.... Undecided on it really. We all do things for a buzz that is dangerous.... Quote
bigals Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 Free climbing I can understand having climbed a bit a longtime ago I can see the buzz and the acheivment of reaching the summit it was the hanging and back flips that got me , no room for mistakes , that and trusting your life to a stranger you have only emailed that admits his friend got electrocuted just stacks up as badly risk assessed :-D Quote
JOCKER Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Had the vertigo on the sofa too. Felt though that the english guy was well out of his depth compared to the foreign fella - he was just plain nuts! Quote
