Boombang Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 In the latest options list they have an option for a cast steel hitch with integrated high security lock - does anyone know if the standard hitch therefore does not have a lock? Nearest dealer is 30 miles away and they all appear to be shut tomorrow. Pricing up like this is damn scary... Quote
XTR2Turbo Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Trailers like the A max don't have a locking hitch as standard. I actually have a spare, never fitted, locking hitch that came with my now sold BJ trailer if of interest Quote
Boombang Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 Thanks, the uplift is £56 so not the end of the world if went that way. Pricing up new options from the usual suspects (BJ, IF, Woodford) and there is a pretty huge range of price for similar specs. Quote
SootySport Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Hang on a minute, you want a buy a trailer but doesn't the car come first? Quote
Boombang Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 Picking car up next Sunday, all being well. Quote
Barry S Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Hi Bought a bj trail or in 2006 never regreted it and pretty sure I could sell it now for circa £400.00 below what I paid I.e. b******* all depreciation! Cheers Barry Quote
Scottish Bloke Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Check out Woodford Trailers, very high quality and lots of 'standard' equipment. Very reasonable too, had nothing negative to say about mine. Quote
Boombang Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 Thanks Barry, I ran a BJ for the last 2 years, sold on purely as was the old high sided type and would have been uncomfortably tight getting a Westfield on with the wide bodywork. Sold for more than I paid for it. Scottish Bloke, I've priced up a Woodford and it was the cheapest of the options. Actually used to get a discount through a mate on Woodford, lost contact with him though. Their info is however terrrible, most of the website links don't exist and really no idea what comes with the trailers and no idea if they last that well (thinking pull out ramp runners more than galvanised chassis. They are the lightest of all options. Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Their info is however terrrible, most of the website links don't exist and really no idea what comes with the trailers and no idea if they last that well (thinking pull out ramp runners more than galvanised chassis. They are the lightest of all options.I've found it best to talk to them to get exactly what I wanted, they're only a small outfit building and trading of an industrial estate near Northampton. When I bought mine from them 5+ years ago all the mechanical bits were Alko, and the rest they fabricated themselves.Mines still holding up well, It sits outside year round so the galvanising has dulled, but otherwise its as good as the day I bought it. I bought the lightweight which has the lift off ramps but I'd be tempted to go for pull out ramps now if given a choice. Quote
Scottish Bloke Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 funnily enough the website was 'under construction' when I bought mine years ago! As has been said, they are excellent kit, better quality than many other 'big names' and great to deal with. Quote
Boombang Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 Wonder if I can track down 'Chocolate' Rob and see about a discount still? Or if people on here would participate in a group buy? Quote

Boombang Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 Might work out a suitable spec and price them up - then have a chat with Woodford. Quote

Boombang Posted January 19, 2014 Author Posted January 19, 2014 Cheers Mark, will try and find some time this week to talk to them. Quote
