Pneumatic rattle gun

Oxymoron alert....looking for a good, cheap rattle gun to go with my compressor. Already got a cheap one but it's really weedy - not due to lack of capacity in the compressor either.

Anyone?

I've got a Draper one which has had a lot of use on various vehicles and is still going strong.

Ime sure you know but its the cfm of the compressor not the psi chris

Manufacturers claim alsorts of wonderfull figures

In truth you need a fairly hefty cfm to run an impact gun

The more powerfull the gun is , usually nm or psi in reverse, the more air it will consume

Ive got an old snap on shock wave

Its a real thug but you need a jet to run it

I ended up buying a 24v sealey 1/2 drive cordless one

Brilliant piece of kit

Hi Steve,

I think the compressor is up to general rattle gun use - it's 15cfm, 50l reservoir and I think 8 bar max, so should be able to maintain the typical 90 psi and the flow needed. The gun I have at present just makes noise and, well, rattles! I think it's just a real cheap bit of tat. I don't see the pressure dropping dramatically when I use it, the comperssor can keep up.

I'm mainly wanting it for when I do the balljoints on the Jeep. Got the tool to press them out & in, but reckon it'll be an easier job using a rattle gun.

In that case get the best you can

Snap on,mac or CP

If you see a snap on or mac van driving about call the number on the side and speak to them

I bet they have px ones on the van as theyre always bringing out new models and taking their old guns in px

My gun was about £300 about 12 years ago

Was used every day - hard - and i only ever needed it servicing once cause it was down on power

You wont ever regret buying one of the above

And youll always get your money back with snap on

Its not a grand cherokee is it ,those ball joints are as much as a house :(

Thanks Steve - had been looking at a CP on ebay.....top tip re the Snap-On van though, cheers.

Sadly, it is a GC, confess I bought some cheap joints to see how they go. I do few miles so thought it worth a punt as the job itself isn't that hard as long as the 'fork' bolt comes out clean......yeah, right!

Be VERY careful once it cracks

The one i did shot up and broke the abs ring on the cv joint

Thanks for the heads-up. Don't need any collateral damage.

Got a CP 747 on the way courtesy evilbay - thanks for the tips on brands. Checked the ratings on the compressor, slightly under 15cfm but does 10 bar and it's a 60l tank, not 50l. No idea on the FAD though. 4hp motor direct drive into a V twin compressor. Should cope I hope!
