alexander72
Morning all, I just wanted to post a quick note to report on the Northants Area Meeting held at Sywell Aerodrome this Monday just gone. Hopefully this post will be read by new members who havent yet ventured to an area meeting! We are a very social bunch and "car club night" is always one i look forward to. Meeting other like minded enthusiasts gives Debbie a break from my westfield related witterings..... Area Organiser Richard Botterill was joined by Mark (MarkMK) Horace Marks (HoraceM) Ian Prior (FatBaldBloke) and Myself James Alexander (Alexander72). A small meeting but the weather was foul and everyone has busy schedules. Jody Arch sadly failed to make it owing to breakdown in his vehicle. We enjoyed a couple of hours of conversation over a pint that was really interesting. Ian Prior works at Red Bull Formula 1 and he gave us a real insight into next years car design, the processes at the factory and the sheer pace of technological advance in the F1 world. It was very interesting to learn straight from the horses mouth just how big these operations are. Ians F1 experience goes back quite a few years and it is really good to hear his tales of the inner workings of the F1 world. He also build impressive Westfields Horace described the development of his Super Charged cross-flow and I found it very interesting to hear how his engine has developed and how his expertise has got it running so well. Mark and I chewed over the pro's and con's of duratec re-builds and how I might get the best from my project engine. Mark has the added experience of swapping from Pinto to Duratec so his opinions should hopefully save me a few quid and help me avoid any common pitfalls. These meets are a great forum for Mr Botterill to plan the coming summer seasons events so if you want the "Area" to attend a specific show, race meet, event get them into the AO and it can go on the calendar. Richard Botterill is very active in this regard and is the main point of contact. Finally, I described my first season in the Speed Series and the group gave me some very helpful suggestions to begin my weight loss programme (on me, not the car ). All in all a very civilised way to spend an evening in good company at a very nice venue of Sywell Aerodrome. If any new members, or lurkers thinking of joining would like to come next month you it would be good to meet you. Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Nice write up James! It often gets forgotten that the Forum is only a small part of the WSCC, the core of the club really is the local members and meets and the things we get up to...

Quinten
Every month (well, since I bought my car) I intend on coming, but every time the weather has been absolutely shocking for turning up in anything other than a fully covered tin-top (I dont have a roof on my westfield). Fingers crossed for next month!
carbon-nv
There was a special prize for anyone brave enough to turn up in a Westifield on Monday. No-one won

fatbaldbloke
Totally agree with the positive comments. It's sometimes a small group over the winter but always a pleasant evening. We have a really nice mix of members. I've belonged to quite a few motoring clubs over the years and I enjoy the company of the WF guys more than any other.
