SteveD Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 [/ URL] a customer car that some eeediot has cobbled together in the past ,its terrible the fuel tank sender was just stuck in with glue onto a plate ,the fuel tank is home made and even has a hole in the top the size of a pea where the baffle has been fitted the rest well you can see its had a locost front end brazed on at some point and the tubes have been chopped and welded to get it to fit even the front lower wishbones have been cut and welded to make them narrower ,just cut the tube in the middle then but welded back together needless to say its having a re chassis , the build quality is absolutley shocking so there is no choice but to rebuild it Quote

Stu Faulkner Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I'm no expert but I'm sure there is an easier way of raising the rear of your car. 1 Quote

SteveD Posted January 13, 2014 Author Posted January 13, 2014 Back to the drawing board on that one...what goes thru the mind of these people? not a lot wuv , i'll post some pics of the worst bits tomorrow evening ,you should see the engine and gearbox mounts and wiring ,the engine block has had bosses welded onto it for the engine mounts Quote
peet Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 My god that standard of welding on those chassis points its amazing no-one got killed by that car! Hope their pockets are deep to pay for the corrective work!! Quote
CRAIGR Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Coming along nicely that one wuv . A bit more practice on the mig and some more liberal use of sikaflex and your there. Quote
tkm_dave Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Lost for words, honestly. Some of those things are beyond belief! Quote
Paul Aspden Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 The seat belt mount is a corker, just like the one that failed during an impact at Pembrey a few years back, thankfully no harm done at the time. I like the sound of bosses welded to the block for engine mounts...cast iron welding..or is it ali blocked Quote
SteveD Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 tunnel braces held in with bent alloy and rivets and that frame is just riveted on top of the origonal frame Quote
