Norman Verona Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Set your VCR and then you can watch whenever your feeling a bit down. Quote
SootySport Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 What is it, Wonderful Life? I'm at work now so can't do anything about it. Quote
Norman Verona Posted December 24, 2013 Author Posted December 24, 2013 Yes, Can I download the recording from a Humax Foxstat? If I can get it on a memory stick I can send it you. I'll see if I can do. Quote
Norman Verona Posted December 24, 2013 Author Posted December 24, 2013 Ah, can you get it on "demand on 4" (or whatever they call it and then record that? Quote
SootySport Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Yes, I can get 4 on demand, will watch it that way, thanks. Quote
Norman Verona Posted December 24, 2013 Author Posted December 24, 2013 However, I must see if I can save some of my recordings as I'm running out of disk space. Up around 75% at the momemt. I'll see what the manual says. Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Disney's 'Fantasia' on later too. Good introduction to classical music for children. Quote
M444TTB Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Darn, if only it was the 90s and I had a VCR This is one of those moment where my brain say 'you should have Sky movies'. Then I look at what's actually on... The Mummy (1999). Seriously Sky?! Quote

Stuart Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Am I the only one who thinks that It's a Wonderful Life is sentimental American tosh? I can't bear it - SWMBO loves it but I have to leave the room when it's on. Quote
Norman Verona Posted December 24, 2013 Author Posted December 24, 2013 Stuart, agreed it's Holywood as its worse, but it's a good film because of that. Quote
Stuart Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Don't get that Norm I'm afraid. I was at a weekend birthday party in a castle last weekend and I was the only one out of 18 to leave the room when the ladies put the DVD on the huge TV on Saturday afternoon. Told them all it was sentimental tosh and they all bah humbugged me. But after an hour there were only 3 of 'em left in there. Belated happy birthday to your goodself BTW. Quote
Norman Verona Posted December 24, 2013 Author Posted December 24, 2013 Thanks Stuart, They seem to come round quicker now. What I mean is that it is sentimental Holywood tosh, which is why I like it. It has a good story and decent actors and a moral. Holywood has forgotten these attributes now and all we get is CGI sentimental tosh. To redress the balance the other film I have saved on the VCR is "Day of the Jackal" Quote
Stuart Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Turns out it's a communist propaganda movie anyways : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2528752/Was-Its-Wonderful-Life-really-communist-propaganda-FBI-investigated-classic-Christmas-film.html Quote
