timd Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 It says in the copy of the 2003 rules that entrants into classes G & H need an MSA competition logbook for their vehicles. How do I go about getting one of these? The MSAUK website appears to be down (still), can anyone shed any light on this? Also what are the "regulations for modified production cars or sports libre cars as defined by the MSA" that the cars must conform to?? Cheers, Tim. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 An MSA car logbook can be obtained from a licensed MSA scrutineer - issued with your bluebook is a smaller booklet of officials - check out you nearest scruter and ask him (or her) or you can have one done at your first event "regulations for modified production cars or sports libre cars as defined by the MSA" that the cars must conform to?? The blue book will have some slight changes effective from January 2004 What in particular are you thinking of A westfield doesn't fall quite into the category of either modified production car or sports libre Quote
timd Posted September 28, 2003 Author Posted September 28, 2003 Thanks Mark. That sounds fairly simple! I read that modprod/sports libre sentence from the '03 Speed series rules. Wondered if that had anything specific that we had to do to the cars in order to run in class G/H, that was all..? Presumably though, there is nothing in there that a normal-ish westfield wouldn't conform to? Quote
Mark Stanton Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 We are quite fortunate with owning Westfields in that there isn't toooo much needed in order for them to comply with regs Where abouts are you based, might be an idea if you were to speak to someone local that had entered your class in previous years - what class are you looking at slickshod non road or semi modified road-going Quote
scott beeland Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 Go on....Enter class F. Anything to knock that smile off Algars face Quote
timd Posted September 28, 2003 Author Posted September 28, 2003 Slickshod non-road is looking most likely I think. Whilst I know that the car is legal for semi-modified roadgoing as far as WSCC is concerned, I understand that it is likely to cause protests/complaints "on the day" from other non-WSCC competitors. Which I CBA with really. Also I suspect that the "right" place for it really is in slickshod. However I'm open to persuasion either way! PS. Am based in Norfolk if there is anyone local-ish? Quote

Especially if you beat em Sad but true They'd probably complain about you having two engines instead of their one With the spec of your car - slicks non road class would be a good one to get the most from it. Norfolk - not toooo many SS from that neck of the woods The only one that comes to mind Nev "Tight Fit " Thompson and he runs in the road-going up to 1800 class and not non-road Quote
timd Posted September 28, 2003 Author Posted September 28, 2003 With the spec of your car - slicks non road class would be a good one to get the most from it. That's what I'm hoping. Take all the road guff off it, stick some lighter rims and discs on and it should be in reasonable shape. How many entrants are there in that class this year out of interest, and what sort of kit runs? Quote
timd Posted September 28, 2003 Author Posted September 28, 2003 Norfolk - not toooo many SS from that neck of the woods PS. Not much of anything in this neck of the woods!! Quote
Mark Stanton Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 From my failing memory in slicks Class H attracted about 15 drivers for 2003. Wotbox's slickshod is also still fully road legal he just swaps his tyres over There were a few VX cars, a Pinto, V8's and XTR2 Quote
timd Posted September 28, 2003 Author Posted September 28, 2003 Good turnout then! Be tempted to keep mine road legal too, and just swap rims. Would make trackdays simpler - and the road comes in handy for the odd "testing" run! Quote
