Captain Colonial Posted November 29, 2013 Share Posted November 29, 2013 Hello all Next week will see the start of a very busy season on membership renewals, so I wanted to give you the heads up and ask for your assistance please. About 1/4 of the membership gets renewal reminders sent to them in December. These reminders are sent out by email, 30 days ahead of the membership period lapsing. However, there can be problems at the member's end, so I'd like to ask you to do the following please: 1) If you have changed your email address lately, go into your profile and make sure it's correct in there, or you won't get your renewal reminder email from us 2) Some spam killers are more aggressive than others. Please update your whitelist / approved list to include any emails from the "@wscc.co.uk" suffix, and keep an eye on your junk mail folder to make sure your renewal reminder email doesn't get deleted If you can do that, it would be a great help to me at a very busy time of the year (in more ways than one!). If your reminder does get eaten or deleted and your membership lapses, don't panic - although you won't be able to post, the renewal invoice stays active for 90 days after expiry. You just need to sign in on the boardroom, click on your boardroom name in the upper right corner and choose Client Area, where you'll find your renewal invoice which can pay instantly online and renew. The emails are definitely going out, so two things: 1) Is your email address in your profile correct? 2) Some email programs don't even bother sending emails to the junk folder, they just delete them. Yet again, it seems our email suffix got put on a blacklist, which was quite probably due to the volume of emails we send out in early December. More than a quarter of the membership renews in December, so obviously somewhere, some software thought we were being malicious. Not the first time this has happened, but it's always a giant PITA to get sorted out, plus the fact we're unaware as no one sends you a "you're blacklisted" notice. Anyway, tech genius Adrian has now done so and re-sent all the December invoices, so almost all of it should be good again. Ah, the joys of being a MemSec...
