RoboS Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Ive been fitting a new boot box from AA Composites today, and am wondering if am going to have any safety issues or other problems with the MOT etc, if i didnt re-fit the digaonal braces. Some Westies have them and some dont. It will save me cutting the elypitcal holes. RoboS Quote
Hammy Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 You don't need them for an mot but they are very useful to stop the bar collapsing and getting your head squashed when you roll it Bars without these are just cosmetic Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 The rear stays provide bracing for the main main hoop of the roll bar so as to prevent it from folding in the event of a roll-over. If you don't fit them then the performance of the the roll bar will be compromised together with it's ability to protect you in an accident. Quote
RoboS Posted November 24, 2013 Author Posted November 24, 2013 That what i thought, i wondered because ive seen loads of Westies without any braces. Quote
pete g Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 for the mot you don't need the bars fitted . in fact you don't need the main bar either Quote
RoboS Posted November 24, 2013 Author Posted November 24, 2013 Im going for the "keep my head intact" option and will be fitting them, especially as ive just had them powder coated. Quote
