Carbs - how fuel tight / sealed are they?

You could drive in the garage and leave the door open for a while.   Depends on how iffy the neighbourhood is though.

Actually I have my carburetted Pinto engined Westfield in there and the only trouble with pongs is exhaust fumes when driving (or reversing) in and manoeuvreing it. I leave the doors open for a few moments and all is clear pretty quickly. I've only had petrol smells when I have either spilled some topping up, or when I had a fuel leak a while back. The evaporation from the carbs is so slow it hardly matters it seems.
