Hi guys,

How we all doing? Sorry I haven't updated this threat for a while but life's been pretty busy with one thing and another...

Anyway as previously stated I am looking to organize a trip to the Somme battlefields for the 100th annerversary of WW1.

The dates will be driving down on the 24th of July and returning on the 27th July staying three nights.

My father and I will be running the trip and have therefore booked a room at Butterworth Farm. Below is a list of well known B&Bs/Hotels in the local area. It will be your responsibility to book your accommodation and I believe there is still space at Butterworth Farm. Depending on numbers, not all of us will fit in Butterworth Farm so we may find that other members (who are slow at booking lol ) will have to stay at the other venues.

We will be travelling via the Eurotunnel and plan to cross midday. Nearer to the time we will book this and again it will be your responsibility to book your travel arrangements.

It would be great if we could get a convoy of Westfield's and arrange pick up points down the country for the morning of the 24th July.

The plan is to base ourselves around the village of Poziers as it is on the main road which dissects the Somme battlefield. There is a Museum and a bar which caters for tourists in Poziers and a car park opposite this which would be a good setting off place.

We will have 2 full days to visit different places including , Thiepval , Lochnager Crater, Ulster Tower, Newfoundland Memorial Park, Glory Holes ( not what you are thinking!), Albert, Delville Wood, Vimy Ridge and other sites which will give you an idea of what happened on The Somme.

If anyone has relatives who they know or think were lost on The Somme we can do a bit of research for you and may even be able to visit their graves if we have time. Please supply full name, service number if known and Regiment or Corps. It is very moving visiting a grave of a relative lost nearly 100 years ago.

when they announce the speed series rounds for 2014 Dan :-)

I fully expect to be challenging for a few FTD's and BArry Slingsby's champion position now the mighty cross flow is "on song" so the SS must be my priority :d
