Well that was a belter!!

Fabulous breakfast at Cracoe for less than a fiver and the start of a wonderful drive.  At Buckden, water was flowing across the road but it was deeper than expected and, those that were following lost sight of my Westy as a wall of water went not only around but also up and over the car as well!  I was completely dry!  Sadly, it started to rain and a wiper fell off.  I stopped and I decided to put on the half hood (for the first time ever) as well as refix the wiper.  Needless to say the sun came straight back out and the hood was off again by the time we got to Castle Bolton.  Then into Wensleydale (Aysgarth Falls looked wild) then up and over into Swaledale and a stop for lunch in Reeth.  Turned back south just beyond Muker and over the Buttertubs pass to Hawes. The clouds were black but broken with large parts of the countryside bathed in sunshine - just magical.  Then towards Ribblesdale and down came the hail!!  It really hurts!!  We eventually pulled into Settle for a much needed fill up for the Westys and then we made our way home, Smeg and Terry westwards and Marcus and I back east.

Big thanks to Smeg and Wendy, Terry and Margaret and to Marcus for their good company and to Shaggydo who met us very briefly in Reeth.  Must remember next time to pick up my thick jersey, a towel and my sunnies but still a brilliant day!

YES, a belter.

Weather was nothing like several web sites predicted for the Dales.

Ten seasons in one blat!   But that's one of the things that made it one to remember  :)

A shame we only caught up with Shaggydo for a few minutes in Reeth, but great he made the effort on 888s to get there (I think it was an experience!)

A little taster of the day....

A brill day, longer than we expected and we were shattered when we got home.

Martin, Marcus, Terry, Caroline & Shaggydo - PLEASE PM or email me notes & pics asap and I'll put together an article for the WW Mag.

One of the better periods for the weather that day!

Nice one! I need to get to one of these blasts sometime - although a gearbox and engine that's in the car rather than sat on a pallet next to it would help
