It's worth noting as well Paul, there is quite a bit to getting one of those set-up really well. so worth talking to the experts and spending the time getting it just right. Hopefully  the last owner will have done a lot.

It's been in a private collection in Austria since being fully restored so it will not be set up correctly.  Even though the car has all the necessary fluids in it and it shows signs around the exhaust join of the engine running I am not going to touch it until I have a professional look at it. Purchased in an auction so I do not know when it was last used properly. Originally it was owned by the Jim Russell Racing School, then Knittelfield Racing School in Austria and finally by Karl Ritter in Austria who is a former racing driver of the 60s era.

There is a company (Track Star Racing Services) near Worthing that specialises in racing and maintaining Merlyns and they are keen to assist me where they can - looks like a trip down there soon.

I have a few thing to do to it before it can be competed in - the exhaust is a straight thru pipe with no silencing so will not comply with UK sound levels! New Avon FF tyres required. I will need to get an MSA Log Book sorted out.  It does have an FIA Historic Vehicle Identity Form.

But should be good fun.

Well it won't start with that bung in the exhaust will it...

The bungs are there to keep the mice out of the carb and exhaust  :)
