dombanks Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Quite likely, and that's part of the problem, they gloss over all the interesting bits. Certainly seems to be getting worse of late too. ....but I keep watching Oh, the shame of it... but its a dirty shame that you like tho.... Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 I enjoy it, I even quite enjoy some of the Mike Brewer parts to each episode. Obviously, everything has to be filtered through the fact that it's a TV program made for a relative small segment of TV viewers, who also vary quite dramatically in terms of knowledge and experience. None the less, on the whole, it manages to walk the fine line reasonably well, it neither patronises too much, not ends up as a "bolt A to B, and fix to sub-assembly C" type program. Most importantly for me though, for all the televisual stunts and artistic license required to make a TV program appealing to more than a few dozen viewers, the genuine enthusiasm for, and interest in, the subject comes across strongly. Even more importantly, the program, from production, through to presenters and scripts, seem to respect the subject. It's the lack of respect that shows through most strongly in so many of the other "restoration" type programs and that I loath the most. Quote
