Bracing for backlash

I see tonight's new episode of SteveD's favourite program, Wheeler Dealers, is based around a Lotus Elise...

I await the inevitable backlash with some horror while hiding behind the desk in Admin Corner.

fpmsl its a poxy k series so I will not be watching and I would rather stick burning pins in my eyes than watch mike (the blimp)brewer , now what would be a laugh if they gave it to that counts customs thingy

Ahhhh ... so there are advantages to not having Sky or Cable .... I can't get Discovery channel so would not be tempted to watch! :)

come on guys get into the 21st century. just rip the TV of the net like the rest of us...... best bit is you dont have to endure the BS adverts sky etc have all the time.

i like wheeler dealers, well mostly as mike brewer can be a bit annoying but the whole program is fine... esp seeing ed china try to get into the teeny cars

Well, I watched it on the PVR, cut it down to 20 minutes fast forwarding past Brewer test driving and buying it, watched Ed's oily bits, then fast forwarded to see how little money they made (lost).  K-series head disassembled, cleaned, ported, reassembled and skimmed for just £400 - really?  Interesting how £2K worth of shocks and springs was negotiated down to "half price" of £700 - I guess that's maths I missed in school.  Of course, some company loaned Ed their latest piece of whizzo equipment as a puff, this time a laser tyre depth scanner, very interesting...right up the point after all that where Ed looked at the tyres with his eyes and decided they were past their best and chucked them away, making the hi-tech bit of kit redundant.  However, they did do corner weighting, which I enjoyed.  Actually looked a tidy car at the end that I wouldn't mind owning.  But the program is still an insult to my intelligence - I guess I must be watching it just to enjoy spitting vitriol over it.

im always dubiuos of their costs. i would say in most programs they put new tyres on the cars. scott your right about the loans of bits of equipemnt too. hes alwys got some sort of thingy he uses that the likes of a normal person wouldnt. like the other week with the stingray using the mot brake tester.

they also never factor in labour costs.

what i like to see on the program is how stuff is done, it sort of shows you that some stuff is not beyond someone with a little bit of sense and some spanners. you can tell the program has moved up in its available budget tho as more stuff is replaced now that tidied up.

It's one of my guilty pleasures watching this. It's also usally the same old dissapointment as well. Trouble is, the nity gritty oily bits that would likely interest most of us are probably deemed as dull TV so get cut. Ice Pilots is another I watch and there's more and more 'drama' and less and less flying and oily engine bits. Used to enjoy watching the Tuttles until that turned into a bl**** soap as well. Biker Buildoff went the same way...

One thing for sure, I'd not lend MB a house brick - he'd break the bl**** thing. Like last episode, he barges into the workshop in the usual manner than slaps the head down on the front of the car. Bet that left a mark for someone to polish out....bloke is a total hooligan.

Watched the one on the Lotus Elan as couldn't get the Elise one yet via internet and it was very good. but as has already been said MB is the stereotype of an Arthur Daily, just waiting for him to suggest they put sawdust in the gearbox :d

Quite apart from the cost, wouldn't the ECU need remapping having gone from 120bhp to 160 (or whatever it was).

Quite likely, and that's part of the problem, they gloss over all the interesting bits. Certainly seems to be getting worse of late too.

....but I keep watching   Oh, the shame of it...
