Hi Steve,

Yup a US-spec TR6 is a good buy on the body front but to bring up to UK spec power and performance can cost a bit. So depends what has been done already or is it straight from California?

Loads of parts available to convert from LHD to RHD if you want to.

The engine will be OK as is but may not be happy with unleaded petrol.  A few options here.... run on unleaded until you have a problem, fuel additives, head work.

The US engine had Stromberg carbs and (when new) produced about 105BHP (my TR5 had 150BHP!).

The head is different from the UK TR6 (US is low compression) and will not take injection parts from a PI engine but can take triple Webers.

Triple webers, head work and new cam is the cheaper route.

Whatever you do with it they are great cars and you will love owning & driving.

They are not very wide cars; narrower that a Ford Fiesta!!!!! ;)

Where are the pictures? Oh and what does it rev to?  Don't expect a rev limit like one of your Honda Vtecs  :)

Nice one Steve a friend of mine restored a tr6 sounds fantastic and a great car. Funniest part with my friends was that it had an electric fuel pump (I don't know if they all had) but the alternator couldn't power the fuel pump windscreen wipers and lights at the same time. Made for interesting times on some nights!

Enjoy

cheers guys , i have not picked it up yet but deal has been done and money has changed hands , i have been wanting one and looking for a while (years)on and off  and just thought what the chuff just do it , i missed a ok uk car for £6500 but for not a lot more have bought a rust free california car , for the sherlocks among you im surprised you have not spotted it on ebay as its still advertised until moneys clear

its the white one  in kent , they sent me tons of pics of everything important and not so important so im totyally confident its a nice car for a light restoration and rhd conversion

cheers paul for the info , im not bothered about all out performance so will probably just get a exchange unleaded head early next year and just potter around in it enjoying our glorious summer months
