Tim Reid Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Hi All, I know this is not the place to complain about issues we have with suppliers so I will try and make this a clear warning. 1. Brise do not sell a mount suitable for the zetec at this time (20th September 2013). 2. Brise will try and charge a re-stocking fee even if they have made an error, this re-stocking free is not documented on any of the paperwork or their website and they didn't explain it to be on the phone when I placed my order. This maybe in breech of the distance selling regulations, depending on the action you are the buyer take. If you are considering using Brise (www.brise.co.uk) for alternator mounts you may want to conside my experience. Having decided to fit a lightweight alternator I thought I would avoid the hastle of making my own mount by buying one off the shelf. I phoned brise and explained that I wanted to mount one of their little alternators (part number 5305) to a black top ford zetec. Not that their website does not show a mount for the 5305 or the zetec. They told me that the "MKT001" would be suitable. The phone looked like a comprehensive kit and at £65 +VAT +postage I felt it was a good price. They shipped me a "MKT002" which is for a Xflow according to the invoice. They charged £150 including VAT and postage for 1 flat bar and 1 mounting bar with poor welding (not the smooth finish shown on the website). No instructions, no bolts, no washers. I inspected the mount next to the engine and it was clearly not going to be suitable. I phoned them an cancelled the order within 7 days of delivery in accordance with the distance selling regulations. I paid for the item to be shipped back to them (signed for and insured) and included a letter explaining that 1, it was not what I ordered (price difference) and 2, it was not suitable. A week after it was delivered to them I phoned up. They said they don't sell a mount for the zetec and that they would process the refund. The refund was for only part of the money, nearly £40 short. I imediatly called them and explained that I felt I was entitied to a full refund. They said "we will sort it out" and ended the call. Since this call on 10th September I have tried e-mail and phoning daily. I am told that I have to speak with Tim Brise who was going to sort it out. Tim does not return my calls or e-mail so I been forced to use my credit card company to recover the funds. Always know your rights as a consumer! If anyone feels I am incorrect or have been unfair to this supplier please contact me directly using a PM and I will edit this post where required. Quote

pistonbroke Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 If what you say is correct I think they should have refunded you in full including return postal costs as the goods where not as described Quote
Rab (bombero) Reid Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I'm sure I heard some time back that 'restocking' charges were, at best, against distance purchasing and, at worst, 'illegal'.. Quote
Marto303 Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Have to say that my experience of buying from Brise was very different, they were extremely professional and helpful and my starter solenoid was delivered correctly the next day. Quote
Meakin Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Kitspares do an alternator and mounting kit for zetec blacktop and its excellent. As for original post my wifes business is distance selling and she tells me they can charge a restocking fee however this should be made clear at the time of the sale. She doesn't charge a restocking fee as in her opinion is very bad for customer service. Hope that helps in some way Paul Quote
