iain m Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 The CEO had several Jap 4x4s when the kids were growing up and fuel price was not a major issue, with 7 grandchildren followed several large German estates, now they are all at school she wants a practical/economic/medium size/fun car. For once in 48 years I promised not to influence her in any way ( all fingers crossed ). Well that was around her birthday 6 months ago and nothing has deemed suitable till last Friday she took me to the local Skoda dealer to look at a Yeti Adventure, I was impressed, an SE 2litre TDI with almost £3k of extras at no extra cost, black roof and mirrors, black 17in wheels, better seats and mats, upgraded sat nav, DAB radio, better mouldings, leather multi function steering wheel, silver roof rails, there is a run of 500 only in white or silver, the silver looks better and metallic is another £500 usually which they don't charge for. Very impressed she also came in considerably under budget, so we are off to collect it this morning so I trust all the wonderful report member make about Skoda come true. I will be keeping you advised. Quote
Bubba Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 There was a Top Gear episode which featured the Yeti and landing a helicopter on it. It makes interesting viewing and even Clarkson was impressed! Quote
Paul Aspden Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Having done a few miles in an Octavia 4x4 i would guess you will not be disappointed. By a few miles I mean i bought it off my brother with 133,000, and sold it with 240,000 miles, and that's on a petrol turbo, original engine and turbo, just regular servicing. Quote
Ian Podmore Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 On my 2nd Octavia estate. I didn't even bother with looking at anything else when came to change last time, and the same could well happen again next year. We've had quite a few at work since 1999, and all have been good. Only 1 failure and that was dealer service error on a 1.9Tdi Had a Yeti hire car abroad this year, that was very good as well. Great space. Quote
Captain Colonial Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 IIRC, the Yeti was so popular early on that there was a six-month waiting list and a premium being charged on the MRSP - must be a reason for it! Quote
AdamR Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I had an Octavia petrol turbo, 06 plate - just a Golf GTi with a big boot and a few less toys - was well over 100k with a remap and drove superbly, only issue in a couple of years was a failed £20 sensor. Would definitely have another. Quote
SootySport Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Another Skoda fan here, my last car was the Fabia VRS 1.9TDI, the best car I have ever owned, only changed it as it is not possible to tow a trailer with it. Now have an Audi A3 with the 2.0 TDI engine, another great car from the same stable. I would have bought a Yeti but they were outside my price range at the time, maybe a used one in the future. Enjoy your Yeti, a bit left field but VFM. Learn more about it on www.briskoda.net . another great forum. Quote
Norman Verona Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 One of my customers gave a member a good discount on two Yetis when they were in short supply. I've said it before but it's worth repeating, if you're in the market for a new car (or used) give me a shout and I'll see if one of our customers (all dealers) can do a bit better. Quote
Tom Frankland (T3OMF) Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Another Skoda fan here, my last car was the Fabia VRS 1.9TDI, the best car I have ever owned, only changed it as it is not possible to tow a trailer with it. I had a ST170 and traded it for a Fabia VRS 1.9TDI just because I was doing loads of miles a year 35k. Cracking Car, like you I would have brought another one after blowing the turbo and killing the engine but instead we brought a Focus 1.6 Diesel (Good motorway muncher tho) This was a few years ago now Nothing wrong with Skoda's Quote
Hammy Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 We had Fabias when I worked for the Plod - they were badly maintained and thrashed to death, but were very reliable and returned 52mpg ( small diesel) overall . Great motors unless you are worried about snob values Quote
Geoff1 Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I had a octavia 1.9 TDi 110 bhp bought it with 90 thousand on the clock sold it to a friend with 140 thousand and he sold it last year with over 250 thousand same engine turbo and box. Good cars and if you look all the parts have the vw and audi stamp on them just depends on if you dont mind the skode badge. Quote
Steve_Farrimond Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I have a remapped limited edition Fabia VRS. 180Bhp 400nm It's a great car. Love it to bits. Nothing bad I can say about it. Would definitely have another Skoda. Quote
Arm Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 As part of the vw audi group whenever i get asked which audi is worth having i usually say the yeti or superb or octavia. They are the sensible choice. Quote
dstorey Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Yep same here, fabia vrs for 10 years absolutely faultless, currently getting low 60mpg. I get to drive lots of skodas and had a yeti 4x4 170bhp diesel for 6 months too was very quick and stable didn't want to give it back :-) :-) Only negative was the boot wasn't that big, more supermini. We currently have a Superb Estate, they are massive!! :-) Quote
