Evo,s 7SE Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 As above which app to use for sat nav on my I phone 5 preferably free if possible uk only and may be towing a caravan Quote
Rusty Nuts Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 I use Navfree its pretty good and is an "open source" sort of thing, where it can be updated by users, but you do pay for europe and foriegn maps. It helps me safely navigate the dangerous streets of Birmingham. Quote
darve Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 is it not illegal to use a phone as a sat-nav Quote
Bubba Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 is it not illegal to use a phone as a sat-nav No, only if you are holding it. If its mounted its fine. Personally I use Tom Tom on my 4s, really good with traffic and regular updates. It is over £50 though. Quote
XTR2Turbo Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 As long as you have 3G can't you just use the inbuilt maps application? Quote
Stuart Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Google Maps is free and is also satnav. Only used it a couple of times - maps seem OK but voice directions a bit hit and miss though. Quote
Evo,s 7SE Posted September 12, 2013 Author Posted September 12, 2013 Found google maps had it when looking to day Quote
FILFAN Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 I actually find apple maps sat nav works great and have done away with my old satnav. It says its provided by tomtom on the screen. Quote
M444TTB Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 I actually find apple maps sat nav works great and have done away with my old satnav. It says its provided by tomtom on the screen. I used it yesterday for the first time as I couldn't be bothered to get my TomTom out. It wasn't too bad! A little slow perhaps but no bad. Quote
FILFAN Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 I like that it has all live traffic info and you can see straight away where to avoid Quote
MrG Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I use Waze... It's free, and also provides traffic status and locations of speed cameras and other things too. It can even tell you when there's a mobile speed camera being used or police car etc., as it takes updates posted live by other Waze users too. Quote
GALLY Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Waze for me too, works perfectly well and completly free with live updates. Also like to add that with or without the satnav,I've driven around Brum for 22years without an issues. Quote
Marto303 Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 I've just bought the Tom Tom app instead of renewing my old Tom Tom, it's only £27.99 works just like a stand alone sat nav, traffic updates, speed cameras, perfect replacement and a bargain Quote
