Wile E. Coyote
The Three Greyhounds has been done recently too, though hard to tell when we passed it on Saturday, has been gutted nealy inside from what I can see. Not bad for food either. The Edgerton now is better than it was - even has a delicatessen attached, but it can still be a little variable from recent experiences. I will keep trying it though, as even on the days when we've not been quite as I pressed, it's still been OK! The Greyhounds is OK. Nice inside, but the food isn't terribly imaginative... it's good, but just missing a bit of a spark. In fact on one occasion we decided to go to the Chinese in Holmes Chapel instead. Incidentally, for anyone wanting a jaunt out, The Edgerton is close to perhaps the best butcher in Cheshire: AJ Boons in Chelford. Closes at 1300 (IIRC) on Saturdays. Their beef is sublime... Man On The Clapham Omnibus
Sadly I no longer live conveniently close to http://www.theroyalstandard.biz/ on Wooburn Common. It's not the Royal Standard of England - also a good pub, but not a great pub - but a decent local unpretentious pub with reasonably priced food and a terrific choice of ales. Dogs welcome. Now I live nearer to this:http://thewhipinn.co.uk/ and this: http://172009.mrsite.com/ and this: http://theboot-bledlowridge.co.uk/ The first of the trio is a good real ale pub with decent food, the second (newly re-opened), and the third (owned by the village itself and under new management) are both a tad too ambitious in their menus for regular visits to eat, but have good ales and are all in beautiful surroundings. Where I see the dreaded word 'jus' on the menu I know it's not a proper boozer!

John Williams (Panda) - Joint Manchester AO
Really? Has it changed hands recently? I went there once a few years back and it was truly shocking. The Bull's Head in Mobberley would probably get my vote. Seems to have stolen the crown from the Roebuck (which has sadly gone down hill in recent years). Yeap bought out by the new landlord and fab... suggest a revisit

tolf
The Rock Inn, near Upper Hulme Derbyshire and the Littlejohn Pub in Hathersage. Cracking beer and fantastic mixed grill. Needs 2 plates and contains half a farmyard on the plate! Not one for the veggies amongst us!
