XTR2Turbo Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Out of interest .. What is cost of starter kit? What is cost of all bodywork bought individually? What would price of bodywork be effectively as part of kit? Is there much else in starter kit other than chassis, alloy panels and bodywork? Just trying to understand what the bodywork would work out at if bought this way and someone else wanted the chassis. I can't see any starter kit prices.
peterg Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 So, in theory, if a Westfield circuit racer (ie. it never had been a roadgoing car) crashed his car badly enough to need a new chassis but already had lots of old bodywork lying around so he didn't need any of that, he would still have to buy a starter kit? Sounds bonkers to me....
Captain Colonial Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 You'd have to return the wreck of the old frame so the factory knows there aren't two chassis out there with the same number - much like pre-lit body work.

Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Nope, as Im reading it, they won't supply just a space frame with a unique chassis number. They will supply just a chassis with your existing chassis number provide your old one, or at least the part of it with the number on is returned as proof of destruction. Lets not confuse two different scenarios here. A starter kit would also include rear uprights and half shafts plus pedal set and master cylinder along with aluminium panels and fixing kit IIRC.
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Exactly, David got in there while I was typing. now when I bought mine, I knew it would take a while and I had limited Storage space, so I bought my starter kit, less body. I then bought the bodywork six or seven months later. I only paid a deposit on the bodywork at the point of its order, not the kit. Is this not possible now? (Rhetorical question). Agree it sounds daft, but l wonder if its perhaps a knee jerk reaction to other companies making Westfield bodywork?

Steve, there is an idea for you... buy the chassis and pay a deposite for the body work. Consider the deposite part of the cost of getting the chassis and never pay the balance and then you don't get the bodywork.
