After all the trauma of getting some money over, as described yesterday, I get up bright and early and go to the bank. Get there at 09:00. Sign says they open at 08:45 but it's closed.

Wait about for a quarter of an hour. A chap comes along and uses the cash machine and asks if I'm waiting for them to open.

Oh well, it's a bank holiday so that was a waste of time. Assumption day.

Of course. I get accused of making Assumptions all the time.

 

All this agro is to pay someone the money to get the materials to put a new roof on the house. When I was renovating I found someones initials in the truss in, what is now the bedroom, dated June 1942. So it hasn't done bad seeing as they used ferrous nails in those days. That's the problem, the nails are rusting right through and the tiles are falling off. If all had been well I would have the money in the bank Monday afternoon, Now he won't get paid until tomorrow. Still he's still got two weeks before he starts.
