Lee Smith Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Hi All I'm looking for a standard Westfield Fuel tank for fuel injection anyone got one? I'm based in Stockport Cheshire and can collect. Thanks.
Lee Smith Posted August 7, 2013 Author Posted August 7, 2013 Yep, Fitted a wideband Oxygen Sensor and the cards are running at 8 AFR (Mega Rich) great for racing but at 9 mpg and a maximum range of 45 miles on a full tank! So going fuel injection...... I'm off on the Spanish trip with the Manchester Westfield club in September and with that kind of consumption I wont make it between petrol stations!
FILFAN Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Think spannermonkey has a set of sbd jenvey's if your converting
FILFAN Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 You can always just use your standard tank and fit a seperate swirl pot. That's what I did
Lee Smith Posted August 7, 2013 Author Posted August 7, 2013 I was in the process of doing that and actually got a swirl pot. but there is limited space in a westy and I didn't like the idea of having two pumps. If you have a facet pump it will be pumping like mad as there is no back pressure from a Swirl pot. Working that hard means they are more likely to fail in my opinion and this car needs to do road miles not just track days. Also its a plumbing nightmare. I like things as simple as possible, one gravity fed high pressure pump and filter is the way I have decided to go. Also I would have to drain and remove the tank anyway to fit a return port so might as well fit a new fuel injection tank while I'm at it. A new one from Westfield is only £300 and I know that most serious racers take them out and fit very small lightweight race tanks so there should be lots about sitting in peoples garages,,,,,, Fingers Crossed someone will have one for me...
FILFAN Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Yeah I know what you mean about it been a simpler option. It's a simple job though. Fit a restrictor in the low pressure pump so its not banging away. For the return I used a screw in 6mm adapter in the rubber hose on the filler
Lee Smith Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 Did you fit the restrictor for the low pressure pump on the return side of the swirl pot?
Lee Smith Posted August 9, 2013 Author Posted August 9, 2013 Wow looks like I'm going have to buy a new one from Westfield!
