DickieB Posted April 13, 2003 Posted April 13, 2003 Just to prove I'm not after glory with these postings! Qualified 9th out of 35 :-) With only 30 places on the grid, the bottom 30 qualifiers went in to the heat - so I started 4th. Got up to 3rd, but after a "wide" moment at Clearways (a bit of grass and gravel), dropped 2 places. Re-took them then lost a place when I caught a tailender under a yellow flag. By the time I got to the green flag, those behind me came storming past, not having been slowed so much by the tailender. Retook one of them and finished 5th. Which put me 10th on the grid for the final. Got up to 7th when exiting Druids (lap 3) I put the power on too hard, too early, and left it on too long! Resulting spin through me nose first in to the barrier. New steering rack and mounts and 1 front wishbone required (plus yet more duck tape on nose cone!. Steering wheel bent by my hand - that hurts, and elbow badly bruised by roll cage. Car not too bad, pride badly hurt! I'll be back in 2 weeks for Sat 26 Apr at Snetterton (between Thetford and Norwich). Thanks to supporters from WSCC Thames Valley (see photos at Photos. Nick Lear was not out - the other half of his team was driving. Dickie B Quote

DickieB Posted April 14, 2003 Author Posted April 14, 2003 Cheers Shaun, I can feel a new Avatar coming on! Quote
DickieB Posted April 14, 2003 Author Posted April 14, 2003 Avatar sorted. If only I could repair the car that quickly. Right, enough procrastination, I'm logging off - if only there was a computer in the garage for immediate answers to technical problems! Quote
