PICS HERE:https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B_A3OPF6K6hwMmVNVklVOEhJd2s&usp=sharing Why for sale?: I had a baby boy this year in April and not long after buy the car off my father, now all my money and time goes into him – it’s the usual “baby forces sale” story I’m afraid, I truly had no idea how much time and money they take up so my time for toys is over and the car needs tuning etc. The Good:- The car has been in my family for around 10yrs and cared for by my father then myself, last year it had £1500 spent on the engine when I had a cam rocker failure so all those parts are new and had it tuned from 130 -> 157bhp then with head work. Tyres are very good and engine in very good condition with the work completed on it, no advisories on last MOT and since that MOT it has done just 598 miles in over a year however this has now expired. The Bad:- I attempted to tune it after it had been in my garage over winter where I only started it every few weeks to circulate oil around the engine and I’ve now completely messed up the carb tuning!, so it needs someone who knows what they are doing to balance and tune the carbs or taken to a rolling road. Some hairline cracks in the fibre glass around the lip of the front bonnet but usual for age, MOT has now expired so with that and the tuning required you’ll need to take it away on a trailer, engine starts and runs but carbs are not balanced so runs rough – reflected in the price. Would suit someone who knows what they are doing with carbs OR wants a project track car, I’m genuinely gutted to be selling it but I don’t have the time for things like tuning (or ability it seems) or days out in it now and my son won’t fit in the boot space as it is too small!, also no isofix! £3,899 OVNO as seen, Email: Gemini@dld5.co.uk Reading, Berks P.S - IF anyone knows of any home visit carb tuners in Berkshire let me know anyway...
Norman Verona Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Twiglet, welcome to the club but I'm guessing you'll be gone with the car. That should sell over the weekend. So, welcome, good luck with the sales and goodbye ed to add congratulation on your lad, take it from someone who knows, you'll spend a lot more as he grows up and you'll get far more pleasure than with the car. Give it a few years and you'll have another car. He'll insist!
alexander72 Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 great first car for someone - guess it will have sold already?
Twiglet Posted July 28, 2013 Author Posted July 28, 2013 Thanks, I think once he grows up and sees the car pics he'll want me to get another too, hopefully both of us can convince his mother then :-), I bought it last year from my father and not long after found out my wife was pregnant.....good fertility aid maybe? or perhaps Murphy's law :-). Never got to take many outings in it and days out we planned to do didn't happen once we knew my wife was pregnant.....still, have a great albeit noisy little boy now but if it doesn't sell might convince my wife it can stay for a bit longer!
Norman Verona Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Double the price! I knew a chap who had divorced about 20 years earlier and was still living in the marital home. Turned out he had had the house up for sale all this time and got regular letters from his wife's solicitors inquiring how the house sale was going. It never sold. He kept the price at the top end for the spec/area and kept the house, how shall we say, at the bottom end.
Quicksilver Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Delighted to say I`m the new virgin Westy owner of this beasty with it safe in the garage. Twiglet was a pleasure to do business with. Let madness begin!!
