SteveD Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 well after trying to buy this car for the last fifteen years on and off and knowing its owner for nearly 22 years in which time it hasn't seen the light of day in nearly 22 years until about 6 or 8 weeks ago when it was moved into new storage and then into my garage I cannot describe how truly right this car is ,looking down the sides the panels are like a new car ,everything is perfect it is diamond white ,no sunroof and no vinyl roof and black inside so is the one that everyone wants as its a true white rs2000 custom that has nevr been abused or messed with it is on a w plate so is one of the very last registered , you will have to go a long way to find another like this infact you may never find another like this exept maybe in a ford museum it is not like the ones you see for sale that have had sills floors etc etc and patched up welding ,this has never had a panel or even seen a welder ,you lift the carpet up and its like a brand new car its perfect I bought this to keep but to be totally honest I have done a lot of soul searching and I have realised im not a polisher or a garage queen owner I want something I can use as always im a driver , yes I can keep it and store it as its a true investment and im not desperate to sell it ,in the future as these are only going up in value and this will always be a very special car but I would rather enjoy the money while im young...................... ish i believe its true value to be well over 20k in the current market i have had a few escort rally specialists ringing me wanting the car and that's without advertising it (strange how word gets around)but i have turned these offers down as i would rather this go to a owner that will look after it rather than risk it getting ripped apart and rallied so if your interested in this very special car ring me have a chat about ,im not asking the earth for it i just want it to go to the right person i even have a brand new standard exhaust system with the car these are like hens teeth
clansman Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Keep it you know you want to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know I would never part with it after trying to buy it for years ............... 1
Norman Verona Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Steve is serious about this. His post has paragraphs. No full stops or commas, no capital letters but paragraphs are nice. (OK ducks, we love you, no matter what age you are)
SteveD Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 clanski ,i would keep it but to be totally honest it would be wasted on me as i am not interested in showing it and i would never drive it , i have really given this some thought and i don't want to sell it but it would be better for a real enthusiast give it a life it should have rather than wasted on myself
Captain Colonial Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Maybe the Ford Museum at Dagenham would buy it from you? Or another museum? Or auction it through Christies or such? As your desire is to ensure it remains unmolested. Despite the fact the bonnet doesn't fit.
Pantherman Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I would love to buy this,in 1974 I bought my first proper car 1972 Capri 1600 gt couldn't afford a RS 2000 but my mate could ! I have some money put away and it's my birthday tomorrow, just frightened to ask how much and be embarrassed. If I could own it whilst I hate the show ground thing I think I would have to let the world see it. 1

Pantherman Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Steve, I agree ,I just wondered if what I had put away was anywhere near enough ! If u like pm me a ball park figure and if its more than I could afford I'll get my coat

John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Did you get the bonnet to fit right before the buyer saw it?
SteveD Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 Did you get the bonnet to fit right before the buyer saw it? buyer hasn't seen the car in the flesh ,only that picture
