alexander72 Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 afternoon all, I guess most of the WSCC brethren are either slicing body parts in two with power tools or enjoying the sunshine. I have today experienced a new low in my career as a tree surgeon. Forgive the cheery title to me ventiing my spleen. Forgive me if I sound like i'm having a rant at an area (it's not Birmingham) of a town but I was working in Northants today, nice leafy suburb of a market town crown raising some big sycamores....in a playing field used by a primary school. an hour into the day we find 150+ hypodermic needles discarded in the leaf litter and around the swings/ play area/seating bit, Foil wraps, human excrement, french letters, I have picked them all up and sharps binned them with kevlar gloves on but what sort of human being leaves detritus like that in a playing field used by primary school kids...? know the sort cos they all turned up at 2pm with white lightening cider and fat ugly dogs in leather harnesses and moaned we had taken away their' shadey spot to chill out in - utter trash.... I could have decked the lot of em I was so cross.... I am livid..... need a blat in my car to calm down Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Disgusting - hope you reported to the police Quote
nearly done Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Sadly not just limited to the out doors in my last job doing relets for the local authority we came across freshly vacated properties where the former druggy tenants had stuffed their used needles in such choice places as behind gas fires, in toilet cisterns and in the loft spaces. The whole lot of them want rounding up and shooting. Quote
User0083 Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 You should come to Birmingham and do some work. Most area's are ok, but we were training in a park.. DOWN!!! UP!!! RUN!!! DOWN!!! KKKEEEEEEPPP MOVIN!!! Then someone stops, stands up and screams SSSTTTOOOPPP!!! At their feet was similar "recreational tools" and military training stopped in that park. But is only experience of it, other than in old houses my mum would buy when I was younger. Some of them had massive amounts of stuff. Quote
Norman Verona Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 James, I would have stuffed the lot up their jacksies. And the dogs jacksies, just for being not like a dog and biting them! But to be serious for a moment, they will carry on doing this while we have a society that doesn't demand change. Shout loud enough and the police patrols will increase and they will be moved on. Then follow them and keep following until they get the message. We, the law abiding public will not tolerate this behavior. I realy believe it the same with everything that's gone or going wrong in the UK. It seems to me that it's all down to money. Our government, voted in to look after OUR money just keep spending it on themselves and at the same time try and run everything whilst reducing the amount of money available. START SHOUTING AND DEMAND CHANGE. Quote
User0083 Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I'm with Norman! I try shouting, but everyone just ignores me or tells me I'm moaning. "The worst place ever for drugs is small market towns in Devon. You can get what you want and if you look down drains there's needles usually." From Mrs C, grew up in Darlington, went out clubbing in Newcastle, moved to Devon and couldn't believe how much drugs were used there. I've just been told that chemists hand out free sharps bins and will except full ones, no questions asked. I'm going to get one for razor blades! Might be a good idea for James to get one, in case this happens again. It's a good thing, not stopping or promoting, but preventing this! Mrs C said they even supply free needles, to prevent sharing of needles. Quote
jeff oakley Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Junkies have an excuse in that they are junkies. They have no idea or cares so long as they get their next fix. It makes me smile the way we treat our junkies here, understanding reasoning, even when arrested they get methadon free even if in prison. The sheriff in Arizona has the right idea lock em up and make them have cold turkey, why waste money on understanding. But I would go further, any sportsman, pop star. royal or celebrity who is caught with drugs make an example of them. I am sick of hearing how they have kicked the habit and are now wonderful people. They can afford the best care after everything has gone wrong for them, ordinary joes cannot. They can stick half a mill up their nose and still have a wonderful life afterwards if they get the right help. Whilst we are at it any dealer, no matter how samll lock em up for life. You see young guy's of all colours in London who are clearly pushers driving flash cars. They get caught and the punishment is so laughable that they see it as an occupational hazard. drugs are evil, those who push them are evil and you fight evil. Quote
Norman Verona Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I must admit I agree with Jeff. But why stop at drugs, why not include cigarettes. Quote
jeff oakley Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Well, cigarettes are legal and the amount of money raised in tax is far greater than the cost of treating the illness caused by them. In the same way alchol has health issues but again the cost outweighs the health issues caused. Perhaps we should make everything legal and tax it to death? Quote
Norman Verona Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I actually in the "legal drugs" camp for some of the lower orders. If people are going to take drugs we're not going to stop them.Sell them through licenced outlets with huge amounts of tax on them (but less than the pushers charge) and you raise money, remove thousands from criminality and have the problem under control. Of course it won't happen, too many vested interests in keeping it illegal. And bring misery to a lot more than the addicted. Quote
alexander72 Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 AJ, I wont say which playing fields it was as it's been dealt with and the authorities informed. The school were not aware of any issues. I was just furious at eh state of the place - it's a playing field for crying out loud..... Quote
alexander72 Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 edited to add that the Sycamores had not been pruned for 60 years so there was a "den" area unseen by anyone - we crown raised to 8m (24m trees) so cleared a huge area...... over 2,000kg of chip in one day.... I have since spoken to a governor of the school and they will be using an alternative area of the 60 acre playing field for the foreseeable future..... Quote
ajpearson Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Growing up in Ecton Brook i saw it most days sadly, guessing nothing has chnged except its now easier to get hold of Quote
alexander72 Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 AJ it was 20 miles from Ecton Brook mate - a place where people wear red cords and blue shoes.......and have massive red noses and hankies in pockets.... Quote
