Guys a friend of mine up north has a Westy that's a bit battered and needs some T.L.C. he is thinking of having it wrapped not re-sprayed

has anyone tried this? does it work and does it last.

your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hope your all enjoying this lovely weather, I am missing my car like hell and still waiting to get it home to finish it once Westfields have done their bit.

Safe driving guys/and gals.

Good morning Pete,

I have seen several wrapped cars around Birmingham and there's several wrapping shops. New one's pop up all the time!

I've seen some good jobs and some bad. The guy that bought my Robin Hood had it wrapped by a cheap guy and it looked shocking. He didn't go where I advised and went cheapest.

I've had nose band, cycle wings and "fly eyes" done on my car for about £60 no issues at all, no bubbling and been on about 18 months.

On whole cars it's best to really clean them and try to sand out and rough patches, as the will show through. The Robin Hood owner didn't bother and you could see splatted flies on his cycle wings and nose cone.

Heard good things about these...

They must be, everyone knows a Mod is masculine.

Whereas an upgrade is feminine.

If you want the Carbon Fibre look, then there is 3M Dinoc, comes in black, white or grey,  Other manufacturers do just about any colour under the sun.  As Steve says preparation of the bodywork is important, imperfections will show through.

If you have patience there is no reason why it can be diy'd. I did the interior of my Westfield.

This video gives you an idea-

I did work experience in a signwriters, often get stickers and things done for me by them and apply them myself, no issues.

I was going to do it myself in a carbon wrap, Di-Noc was considered and looks good. But when next to real carbon it looks bad, IMO. So unfortunately my OCD combined with attention to detail means I have to pay out for real carbon fibre parts each time!
