jeff oakley Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 I have just bought a Titan one from Screwfix. £39.95 and it is great. Had pretty good reviews. http://www.screwfix.com/p/titan-ttb290sdr-3-belt-sander-230v/51603?_requestid=414928 Quote
Nic Chase (NICO) - Shropshire & Mid-Wales AO Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Had good service from the Makita version. With all these things you get what you pay for !! Quote
jim_l Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Got a Bosch PBS 60, which I must have had for 15 years, just put new drive belt on it, that must be some kind of recommendation.... though to be honest I would be tempted by the Screwfix one at half the price unless I envisaged fairly regular use of it. dombanks Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 im after a new drill too so any good website recomendations? Quote
Norman Verona Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 I bought one from tool station. It's a Makita, has two batteries and seems OK. Just under £100. When I got back here I read about how to re-generate batteries so did the two on my Black & Decker. I now have two battery drills, one mains and a mains SDS (for masonry) I won't go any further about power tools, it makes my finger hurt. Quote
Bean Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 I bought this one recently to sand the floor in one of our bedrooms, was tired of paying to hire a sander each time. http://www.tool-net.co.uk/p-346112/clarke-contractor-cbs2.html?gclid=CKzs2IibtrgCFfFDMgodFRQAjw It's an awesome bit of kit, very solid. The rest of my tools are Makita but on this occasion I decided to try something cheaper. Quote
exboeingboy Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 IMHO Makita takes the biscuit every time. Mine must be over 20 yrs old still going strong and I'd go for a secondhand one before ANY shiny new thing - including (if not specifically) Bosch! Just paid £50 for another load of belts..................... (Let's see if this stops the thread: all my other posts seem to!) Oh and by the way, thanks for all the sympathy and advice for my wasted 4 hours compiling my Sunday ad. One reply out of 275 who read about it (thanks YP, still didn't work though). Hope nobody else gets the same prob. Quote
Mooch Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Let's see if this stops the thread: all my other posts seem to! Nope, still going! Quote
Norman Verona Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Just opened the Makita box and it says 1804T on the charger and the manual. But a different number on the drill. HM came in and had to have a nose. "Oooh they make them in nice colours now, don't they. They're house matching colours". Silly moo, Quote
