dombanks Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 So many years ago her indoors fell down a flight of stars and has knackered her leg. Which means sitting in tight seats gets painful. Where thy curve up at the edges. She has started complaining that the seat in the z4 is no good due to the bolsters squishing her leg. She has a p reg pug 106 and is ok in those seats but they are basically flat and squishy. Any ideas on how we can make her a booster cushion? So she lifts up abit in the seat? Otherwise we will have to go to Scotland in a s***ty pug 106 that is louder than the westy at 70 (if it gets there) rather than a nice comfy air conditioned convertible .... Help Quote
peterg Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Memory foam would be good, get it from your local 'foam' shop or order it online from somewhere like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cut-Any-Size-Memory-Foam-2-Depth-Replacement-Upholstery-Cushions-Pads-Sofa-/370826029169?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Cushions_Throws_LE&var=&hash=item950873f286 I bought some for my mother in law as she's been confined to a wheelchair while she waits for a hip replacement and it has much improved her comfort Quote
IanG1 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I made a booster seat for my daughter to sit in my car by modifying one of those cheap polystene kids seats with the stretch over nylon covers. Used a breadknife to remove the excess bits where the normal seat belt would locate and to generally trim it to fit. The cover still fitted with a few nips and tucks. Quote
Meakin Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I made a booster seat for my son for the westfield using a large cushion put inside a small cushion cover which made a perfect pad and raised him to the harnesses. Very cheap and effective Hope that helps Paul Quote
robo1968 Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Height booster cushions should ideally be wedge shaped to help prevent the person from 'submarining' under their belt in an accident. Thicker end towards back of seat. Quote
dombanks Posted July 16, 2013 Author Posted July 16, 2013 thanks for the suggestions.... are these things not hard tho? we thought we would try with a folded up blanket to see if it works. if not i am seriosly considering going in separate cars! Quote
Norman Verona Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 When I rebuilt the car I made the seat brackets higher on the passenger side. When it was finished HM got in and I fell over with laughter. She looked like she was sitting on the car rather than in it. I lowered it. She can now sit in the car and see over the aero screen. Not that she ever sees out as she won't get in the car other than to bleed the brakes. Quote

Hmmm, let me think.... 1/ buy piece of 2" memory foam 2/ place on seat 3/ sit on it no, I can't see anything hard in that (especially not the foam) Quote
dombanks Posted July 16, 2013 Author Posted July 16, 2013 ha ha very funny.... i told her we could go in the westy the standard seats are pretty flat... she told me to jog on... Quote
