BMW run flats

As an aside, if you read the data there is no reason that run flats cannot be repaired, so long as you have not exceeded the mileage and speed.

Had one go down overnight on my daughters mini, not been fun flat but had a small nail in the centre of an almost new tyre. It was the devils job to get it repaired as there seems to be a gentlemans agreement not to do them, just incase.

Got it done and it was fine for £7.50 as opposed to £280

That was my experience with BMW. They are targeted on tyre sales so are keen to replace not repair. As mentioned, I paid for a puncture in a BRAND NEW tyre with full 8mm tread before I found out.

At least I kept the punctured tyre which I intend to have repaired locally and keep 'in stock'.

Scandalous.

It is the same with the Mini, my daughters new one has not got runflats, it has a tin of foam, but the ride quality is so much better than the one with runflats. It no longer jolts the fillings out of your head.

should it matter they tryre you put on your car? i dont really know the answer. whats the difference between using a runflat an a non run flat if they are both the same size, profile, rating etc. if there was a fndamental difference in the construction (cross ply to radial) so the way the work then i could understand the issue with insurance. it seems like it a knatts-chuff away from them saying it was fitted with chinease-ditch-finders from the factory so you must stay with them. if this is the case then whats the point in having rated tyres?
