Pantherman
Had an email today advising me I have been short listed and have an interview next week with the normal details time place etc. The email then advises me to take along an item that will help the panel to know more about me !!! what the devil do I take ,never come across this one before . With my sense of humour I was initially tempted to take one of the wife's dresses and say I was a cross dresser ( I am 6' 2 with a black ok grey moustache ) just to see their faces but fear it may not be PC. Any HR specialists on here that can advise or just any comments

Captain Colonial
Simples. Photos of the Westy. Tell them about how much care, expertise, dedication and pride you've taken in building, modifying and upgrading it, and the enjoyment of accomplishment you get in driving it and a job well done, which you also enjoy in your professional life. jeff oakley
All depends on the role. It is yet another trendy idea in HR who have to keep on reinventing the act of sitting down and talking with people. It says more about them than you. Over the years I have had interview weekends, interview days. I have done role play, in box exercises team working interviews and I have concluded that any company that needs to do all that is badly run. I have been offered jobs and turned them down as it was clear that the company was run by a mad king who no one ever challenged, because he was the king and as phycologist has got to him. Back to what to take. If it is a caring role, take family items. If it is a leadership role something that reflects that about you, Scout uniform for example if you do such a thing. but remember it is all b*****k*. Good luck if you really want the job

Rab (bombero) Reid
Simples. Photos of the Westy. Tell them about how much care, expertise, dedication and pride you've taken in building, modifying and upgrading it, and the enjoyment of accomplishment you get in driving it and a job well done, which you also enjoy in your professional life. Yep, all depends on the role you're applying for. If you built your Westy, just say that you enjoyed the challenge; pushing yourself to do something that took you out of your comfort zone; having to project and time manage the build especially where outsourcing any of the engineering work, for example; having to work methodically and meticulously. Pantherman
Dave , really like the idea of the chainsaw , I didn't build and haven't rebuilt my car I found it ! The job is back in social housing and by the looks of it the interview is with two ladies ,Wile E I think you are right ! I think I will have to take a ' care bear ' and say it is because I care about others ( which I do and that's why I am a foster parent ) if I am going to stand a chance of getting it . Keep the ideas coming though I like some of them . It's certainly a new one on me normally it's a presentation on some change in legislation !
