TAFKARM Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 I need to replace my voltage regulator (Bosch 1 197 311 526) and just nearly fell over when the only one I found on eBay is £285!!! That can't be right can it??? Quote
Norman Verona Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Just look at the name. Are you sure you can't get it repaired? Quote
jeff oakley Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Do you know what it was origanally off? A lot of times if you want genuine parts they make it hellish expensive especially if it is the same part on a high end motor. Say it fits a porsche 911 they will not want to see it sold for pence even if it fitted to a thousand VW polos. If you get the numbers of the alternator I might be able to help. Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Call Rees and Allen in Aylesbury 01296 483586. If they are still there, they should be able to help at much less cost. Quote
TAFKARM Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 I am repairing it, this is the cheap option. I've taken the unit apart and that's the part number for the regulator! Quote
TAFKARM Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 and thanks for the tip MOTCO, I'll try them tomorrow. Quote
Aerodynamix Ltd Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 I've just had the alternator done on the wifes cmax for the pricely sum of £55 , if you don't have any luck locally Russ give me a shout and I'll have a word with my local man , their workshop is stuck in the past , good quality work and even better value Quote
Marto303 Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Russ i'll text you my auto electrician's number in the morning, give him a call i'm sure he'll help you or at least point you in the right direction. Quote
pistonbroke Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 what about this ... http://www.sparepartstore24.co.uk/706799-bosch Quote
Norman Verona Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Won't have a flat battery then. Come to think about it he won't have a battery. Quote
Kevin Wood Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Might be worth trying these guys. http://www.rotatingelectrics.co.uk/ I've used them in the past for regulators. Genuine Bosch will still be a bit steep, but I've used their £20 pattern parts in the past with no issues. Quote
