How much would you expect to pay for alternator spares...?

I need to replace my voltage regulator (Bosch 1 197 311 526) and just nearly fell over when the only one I found on eBay is £285!!! That can't be right can it???

Just look at the name. Are you sure you can't get it repaired?

Do you know what it was origanally off? A lot of times if you want genuine parts they make it hellish expensive especially if it is the same part on a high end motor. Say it fits a porsche 911 they will not want to see it sold for pence even if it fitted to a thousand VW polos.

If you get the numbers of the alternator I might be able to help.

:o   a replacement alternator might be cheaper....

Call Rees and Allen in Aylesbury 01296 483586. If they are still there, they should be able to help at much less cost.

I am repairing it, this is the cheap option. I've taken the unit apart and that's the part number for the regulator!

Might be worth trying these guys. http://www.rotatingelectrics.co.uk/

I've used them in the past for regulators. Genuine Bosch will still be a bit steep, but I've used their £20 pattern parts in the past with no issues.
