Is the economy picking up, a strange measure

Having been in business through 3 recessions and driving all over the country I always noticed that about 6 months before the economy picked up (by Government stats) the motorways got busier.

 

So, those of you who drive on the motorways, are they busier now than, say, 6 months ago.

No but I hear the government saying there may be fuel issues in a few years and also announce shed loads of shale gas under the North West. Should be able to run the central heating boiler by burning the water   :p   .  Bit like '73 and then "finding" the North Sea Oil in '75.
